Background/purpose: Immediate implant placement in the mandibular anterior tooth region requires a thorough understanding of the alveolar bone anatomy for determining the ideal implant position and preventing labial bone perforation. The anatomical characteristics of the jaws are closely related to the sagittal root position (SRP) and labial concavity of the alveolar bone. This study evaluated SRP, labial concavity, and labial bone perforation in the mandibular anterior tooth region.
Materials And Methods: Cone-beam computed tomography images of 116 participants (696 teeth) were uploaded to medical imaging software. SRP classification, labial concavity of the alveolar bone, and labial bone perforation were analyzed. A -test was performed to compare measurements between the central and lateral incisors, central incisors and canines, and lateral incisors and canines.
Results: The results revealed that the frequency of SRP Class I (88.20%) was the highest, and that of SRP Class III was the lowest (0.53%). Central incisors had the highest mean labial concavity (144.5°), followed by the canines (143.9°) and lateral incisors (143.3°), and the differences were significant between any two of the tooth groups (all < 0.05). The frequency distribution of labial bone perforation was the highest in central incisors (69.9%), followed by the canines (40.5%) and lateral incisors (10.8%).
Conclusion: The majority of mandibular anterior teeth had SRP Class I, with Class III being the least prevalent. Central incisors had the highest mean alveolar bone concavity angle and the most frequent labial bone perforations.

Aim: Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease initiated by dysbiosis of the local microbial community. As a non-specific phosphodiesterase inhibitor, dipyridamole features anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. This study aimed to investigate the effects of dipyridamole in an experimental rat model of periodontitis.

Aim: To investigate additional factors contributing to the pathophysiology of chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis and periodontitis beyond the systemic immune suppression caused by the chemotherapeutic agent 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU).
Methods: 5-Fluorouracil was topically delivered to the non-keratinized, rapidly proliferating junctional epithelium (JE) surrounding the dentition, and acts as an immunologic and functional barrier to bacterial ingression. Various techniques, including EdU incorporation, quantitative immunohistochemistry (qIHC), histology, enzymatic activity assays, and micro-computed tomographic (μCT) imaging, were employed to analyze the JE at multiple time points following topical 5-FU treatment.

Background: The stability of soft and hard tissues surrounding the implant is not only a matter of aesthetics, but also affects the long-term stability of the implant. The present study was to explore the influence of buccal mucosa width/height (W/H) ratio, emergence profile and buccal bone width on peri-implant soft and hard tissue changes in the posterior region.
Methods: Fifty-eight posterior implant restoration cases were recruited in this study.

Background: This study aimed to establish a model for predicting the difficulty of mandibular third molar extraction based on a Bayesian network to meet following requirements: (1) analyse the interaction of the primary risk factors; (2) output quantitative difficulty-evaluation results based on the patient's personal situation; and (3) identify key surgical points and propose surgical protocols to decrease complications.
Methods: Relevant articles were searched to identify risk factors. Clinical knowledge and experience were used to analyse the risk factors to establish the Bayesian network.

The retrospective study aimed to compare the space-maintaining effects of sticky bone (bone graft matrix enriched with injectable platelet-rich fibrin) and titanium mesh for bone augmentation in the aesthetic zone. Patients who underwent single implant placement and had type 2/4 alveolar bone defects (buccal bone wall loss is >50% of the expected implant length) were screened for inclusion in this study. The labial bone plate width was measured at 1, 3, and 5 mm below the apical implant platform on cone beam computed tomography images taken immediately and 6 months after surgery.
