high temperature Raman spectra of KO-(100-)GeO, samples containing 0, 5, 11.11, 20, 25, 33.3, 40, and 50 %mol KO, were measured. The structure units and a series of model clusters have been designed, optimized, and calculated by quantum chemistry calculations. The computational simulation in conjunction with the experiments put forward a novel method to correct the experimental Raman spectra of the melts. Deconvolution of the stretching vibrational bands of nonbridging oxygen of [GeO] tetrahedra of Raman spectra by Gaussian functions was carried out, and the quantitative distribution of different species in molten binary potassium germanates was obtained. The result on all molten samples show that four-fold coordinated germanium atoms occupy a dominant position in the melt and only four-fold coordinated exists in the melt when the KO content exceeds a certain amount. For melts with high GeO content, with the increasing KO content, the structure of [GeO] tetrahedra gradually changes from a three-dimensional network consisting of both six-membered and three-membered rings to a three-dimensional network that presents all three-membered rings.

Forensic gemstone analysis faces many challenges. One of the most critical aspects of gemological research is the classification of a gemstone. It is necessary to understand the mineral species, purity, origin, and identification of treatments to identify and classify a gem correctly, as well as assign a monetary value to it.

Chalcones are organic substances that have diverse biological activities and exhibit potential for the treatment of various diseases. The properties of these substances depend on the type and position of the functional group attached to their aromatic rings. As a result, in this work the chalcone (2E)-1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-prop-2-en-1-one (CHO) was investigated by Raman spectroscopy and computational calculations at high pressures with the objective of analyzing its structural stability.

The technologies used for the characterization and quantitative analysis of dairy products based on Raman spectroscopy have developed rapidly in recent years. At the level of spectral data, there are not only traditional Raman spectra but also two-dimensional correlation spectra, which can provide rich compositional and characteristic information about the samples. In terms of spectral preprocessing, there are various methods, such as normalization, wavelet denoising, and feature extraction.

Aiming toward a novel, noninvasive technique, with a real-time potential application in the monitoring of the complexation of steroidal neuromuscular blocker drugs Vecuronium () and Rocuronium () with sugammadex (, medication for the reversal of neuromuscular blockade induced by or in general anesthesia), we developed proof-of-principle methodology based on surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). Silver nanoparticles prepared by the reduction of silver ions with hydroxylamine hydrochloride were used as SERS-active substrates, additionally aggregated with calcium nitrate as needed. The and SERS spectra were obtained within the biorelevant 5 × 10-1 × 10 M range, as well as the SERS of , though the latter was observed only in the presence of the aggregating agent.

Ionic liquids were used as low temperature solvents for the synthesis of new lanthanide and transuranic-element (TRU) borate cluster structures. Ionothermal synthesis with the ionic liquid [BMIm]Cl (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride) yielded the La, Nd, and Am containing phases LaBOCl, NdBOCl, and AmBOCl. The structures of the La, Nd, and Am borate clusters were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD) and found to be cubic, in the chiral space group 23.
