A recent paper claims that a newly proposed method classifies EEG data recorded from subjects viewing ImageNet stimuli better than two prior methods. However, the analysis used to support that claim is based on confounded data. We repeat the analysis on a large new dataset that is free from that confound. Training and testing on aggregated supertrials derived by summing trials demonstrates that the two prior methods achieve statistically significant above-chance accuracy while the newly proposed method does not.

Precise volumetric measurement of newly formed bone after maxillary sinus floor augmentation (MSFA) can help clinicians in planning for dental implants. This study aimed to introduce a novel modular framework to facilitate volumetric calculations based on manually drawn segmentations of user-defined areas of interest on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images MATERIAL & METHODS: Two interconnected networks for manual segmentation of a defined volume of interest and dental implant volume calculation, respectively, were used in parallel. The volume data of dental implant manufacturers were used for reference.

Objective: College students with subclinical depression often experience sleep disturbances and are at high risk of developing major depressive disorder without early intervention. Clinical guidelines recommend non-pharmacotherapy as the primary option for subclinical depression with comorbid sleep disorders (sDSDs). However, the neuroimaging mechanisms and therapeutic responses associated with these treatments are poorly understood.

Purpose: The tumor microenvironment (TME) in lymphoma is influenced by M2 macrophages. This research proposes an novel predictive model that leverages M2 macrophage-associated genes to categorize risk, forecast outcomes, and evaluate the immune profile in patients with newly diagnosed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) undergoing R-CHOP therapy.

Methods: Gene expression data and clinical information from DLBCL patients were retrieved from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases.

Complex relationships between the human microbiome and cancer are increasingly recognized for cancer sites that harbor commensal microbial communities such as the gut, genitourinary tract, and skin. For organ sites that likely do not contain commensal microbiota, there is still a substantial capacity for the human-associated microbiota to influence disease etiology across the cancer spectrum. We propose such a relationship for prostate cancer, the most commonly diagnosed cancer in males in the United States.
