We report low-temperature electronic transport measurements performed in two multi-terminal Corbino samples formed in GaAs/Al-GaAs two-dimensional electron gases (2DEG) with both ultra-high electron mobility ( ≳ 20 × 10 cm/ Vs) and with distinct electron density of 1.7 and 3.6 × 10 cm. In both Corbino samples, a non-monotonic behavior is observed in the temperature dependence of the resistance below 1 K. Surprisingly, a sharp decrease in resistance is observed with increasing temperature in the sample with lower electron density, whereas an opposite behavior is observed in the sample with higher density. To investigate further, transport measurements were performed in large van der Pauw samples having identical heterostructures, and as expected they exhibit resistivity that is monotonic with temperature. Finally, we discuss the results in terms of various lengthscales leading to ballistic and hydrodynamic electronic transport, as well as a possible Gurzhi effect.

To address the challenge of antibiotic-containing wastewater, a novel micromagnetic carrier-modified integrated fixed-film activated sludge system (MC-IFAS) was developed for treating tetracycline (TC)-containing swine wastewater in this study. The magnetic effects of the MC significantly enhanced TC removal by improving TC biosorption and biodegradation in both the suspended activated sludge and the carrier-attached biofilm in the MC-IFAS. The increased electrostatic attraction and number of binding sites in both the activated sludge and the biofilm enhanced their TC biosorption capacities, particularly in the activated sludge.

Chalcogen Substitution-Modulated Molecule-Electrode Coupling in Single-Molecule Junctions.

Langmuir

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Surface & Interface Science of Polymer Materials of Zhejiang Province, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, 928 Second Street, Zhejiang, Hangzhou 310018, China.

Molecule-electrode interfaces play a pivotal role in defining the electron transport properties of molecular electronic devices. While extensive research has concentrated on optimizing molecule-electrode coupling (MEC) involving electrode materials and molecular anchoring groups, the role of the molecular backbone structure in modulating MEC is equally vital. Additionally, it is known that the incorporation of heteroatoms into the molecular backbone notably influences factors such as energy levels and conductive characteristics.

Phonon modal nonequilibrium is believed to widely exist around nanoscale hotspots, which can significantly affect the performance of nano-electronic and optoelectronic devices. However, such a phenomenon has not been explicitly observed in 3D device semiconductors at the nanoscale. Here, by employing a tip-enhanced Raman thermal measurement approach, substantial phonon nonequilibrium in gallium nitride near sub-10 nm laser-excited hotspots is directly revealed for the first time.

High-Coordination and Nb-Bridging of Bimetallic Amorphous P-Nb-W-P Clusters in Carbon Nanospheres for High-Performance Sodium-Ion Hybrid Capacitors.

Adv Sci (Weinh)

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Jiangxi Province for Persistent Pollutants Control and Resources Recycle, Nanchang Hangkong University, Nanchang, Jiangxi, 330063, P. R. China.

Amorphous clusters are gaining prominence as prospective hosts for sodium-ion hybrid capacitors (SIHCs), but their efficacy is still affected by atomic coordination. Optimization of ion storage and charge transport can be achieved through high coordination and bimetallic configurations. Herein, high-coordination amorphous P-Nb-W-P (Nb/W-P) clusters are skillfully tailored by bridging Nb into the second shell of W in the W-P configuration, nested in situ in conductive and stable N, P co-doped carbon nanospheres (Nb/W-P@NPC).

Vitrimeric electrolytes - overview and perspectives.

Chem Commun (Camb)

January 2025

Design of 3D-Printable Polymers Based on Regional Resources, Just Transition Center, Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, 06099 Halle, Germany.

Lithium batteries, essential for consumer electronics, transportation and the energy sector, still require further improvement in performance, safety, and sustainability. Traditonal organic solvent-based electrolytes, widely used in current systems, pose significant safety risks and restrict the development of next generation devices. Vitrimers are materials with unique physical and chemical properties, which offer a promising alternative to overcome these limitations, finally reaching processability and recyclability of solid electrolytes.
