is rich in volatile components and valuable as a medicine and edible spice. However, the quality of commercially available varies, and issues with mixed sources and adulteration by similar products are common. In addition, due to incomplete identification methods, rapid detection of the purchased quality is still an issue. In this study, we developed qualitative and quantitative evaluation models to assess the variety and quality of using GC, electronic tongue, and electronic nose to provide a rapid and accurate variety and quality evaluation method of . The models performed well; the qualitative authenticity model had an accuracy of 1.00 (n = 64), the accuracy of the qualitative origin model was 0.86 (n = 44), and the quantitative model was optimal on the sensory fusion data from the electronic tongue and electronic nose combined with borneol acetate content, with = 0.7944, RMSEF = 0.1050, and RMSEP = 0.1349. The electronic tongue and electronic nose combined with GC quickly and accurately evaluated the variety and quality of , and the introduction of multi-source information fusion technology improved the model prediction accuracy. This study provides a useful tool for quality evaluation of medicine and food.

Assessing Mitigation Translocation as a Tool to Reduce Human-great Horned owl Conflicts.

Environ Manage

January 2025

United States Department of Agriculture, Animal Plant Health Inspection Service, Wildlife Services, Fort Collins, CO, USA.

The great horned owl (Bubo virginianus) is a generalist predator that inhabits wide-ranging territories that are relatively stable throughout the year. These owls are also involved in a variety of human-owl conflicts, including killing of domestic poultry, predating colonially nesting seabirds and shorebirds, and pose a hazard to safe aircraft operations. Managing these conflict situations presents unique challenges as great horned owls are nocturnally active and occupy a wide range of habitats.

In plain radiography, scattered X-ray correction processing (Virtual Grid: VG) is used to estimate and correct scattered rays in images. We developed an objective evaluation system for bedside chest X-ray images using VG and investigated its usefulness. First, we trained the blind/referenceless image spatial quality evaluator (BRISQUE) on 200 images obtained by portable chest radiography.

Background: There is a global need for synthetic speech development in multiple languages and dialects, as many children who cannot communicate using their natural voice struggle to find synthetic voices on high-technology devices that match their age, social and linguistic background.

Aims: To document multiple stakeholders' perspectives surrounding the quality, acceptability and utility of newly created synthetic speech in three under-resourced South African languages, namely South African English, Afrikaans and isiXhosa.

Methods & Procedures: A mixed methods research design was selected.

Department of Neurosciences, Psychology, Drug Research and Child Health (NEUROFARBA), Section of Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Florence, 50139 Florence, Italy.

Background: Oxaliplatin-induced neuropathy (OIN) is a severe painful condition that strongly affects the patient's quality of life and cannot be counteracted by the available drugs or adjuvants. Thus, several efforts are devoted to discovering substances that can revert or reduce OIN, including natural compounds. The carob tree, L.
