CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing technology, as an innovative biomedical tool, holds significant potential in the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis. By precisely editing key genes such as PCSK9, CRISPR-Cas9 offers the possibility of long-term regulation of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), which may reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Early clinical studies of gene editing therapies like VERVE-101 have yielded encouraging results, highlighting both the feasibility and potential efficacy of this technology.

Background: Regulatory T cells (Tregs) are essential for maintaining immune homeostasis and facilitating tissue regeneration by fostering an environment conducive to tissue repair. However, in damaged tissues, excessive inflammatory responses can overwhelm the immunomodulatory capacity of Tregs, compromising their functionality and potentially hindering effective regeneration. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) play a key role in enhancing Treg function.

Background: La-related protein 7 (LARP7) is a key regulator of RNA metabolism and is thought to play a role in various cellular processes. LARP7 gene autosomal recessive mutations are the cause of Alazami syndrome, which presents with skeletal abnormalities, intellectual disabilities, and facial dysmorphisms. This study aimed to determine the role of LARP7 in modulating gene expression dynamics during osteogenesis.

Hypertension or high blood pressure (BP) is a prevalent and manageable chronic condition which is a significant contributor to the total global disease burden. Environmental chemicals, including mercury (Hg), may contribute to hypertension onset and development. Hg is a global health concern, listed by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a top ten chemical of public health concern.

Some clinicians, scientists, and ethicists believe that psychedelics are so different from other treatments that they warrant special consideration in how they are researched, regulated, commercialized, and administered. Others argue that psychedelic medicines show clinical potential, but they should be treated like other medical interventions.
