Background: Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) remains a significant cause of global mortality, exacerbated by ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury. Myocardial cell pyroptosis has emerged as a critical pathway influencing IR injury severity.
Methods: We aimed to investigate the cardioprotective effects of aerobic exercise on IR injury by examining the modulation of IGFBP2 and its impact on GSDME-dependent myocardial cell pyroptosis.

Ginkgolide B (GB), a compound derived from Ginkgo biloba, exhibits significant cardioprotective properties, although its precise molecular target has yet to be identified. In this study, we synthesized a biotin-labeled GB probe (GB-biotin) to identify the molecular targets of GB. Our experiments demonstrated that treatment with GB or GB-biotin reduced mitochondrial injury, restored mitochondrial membrane potential, and decreased cell apoptosis in a concentration-dependent manner.

Ursolic acid, a natural pentacyclic triterpenoid compound, has been shown to have significant cardioprotective effects in various preclinical studies. This article reviews the various mechanisms by which ursolic acid achieves its cardioprotective effects, highlighting its potent anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti- apoptotic properties. Ursolic acid upregulates anti-oxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx), effectively reducing oxidative stress, thereby decreasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) and improving lipid peroxidation levels.

Cinnamon is one of the world's oldest and most popular spices, and is derived from the inner bark of several tree species from the genus Cinnamomum. During the last two decades, cinnamon has demonstrated beneficial metabolic effects not only in animal experiments but also in clinical trials. Even recent meta-analyses have shown the protective effects of cinnamon on different components of metabolic syndrome and their complications.
