Pulsatile lavage is utilized to copiously irrigate contaminated wounds; however, the current devices can cause significant splashing and increase the risk of contaminated fluid exposure to healthcare professionals. To create a larger splash guard for the standard pulsatile lavage device, we use heavy scissors to remove the end of a plastic light handle. We then place the nozzle of the lavage device through the open end to create a larger splash guard. This method provides a quick, accessible way to decrease the risk of splash exposure due to pulsatile lavage irrigation.

The indication for femoral stem cementation should be made on a patient-specific basis, taking physical activity, femoral geometry, and bone tissue quality into account. Age alone should not be the sole justification for cementation. The Dorr classification can serve as decision support for whether a cemented fixation should be used.

Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is a complication that occurs in less than 1% of patients after unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA). Though infrequent, it may potentially lead to revision while placing a significant financial burden on the healthcare system. Preoperative, intra-operative, and postoperative strategies should be implemented to minimize the risk of PJI.

Introduction: Bony surface cleaning using a pulse lavage device (PLD) is essential for modern cementation of hip and knee arthroplasties. This costly single-use device is a medical waste and unaffordable for some patients. Reprocessing is a worldwide standard strategy to solve this problem.

The arcuate nucleus kisspeptin (ARNKISS) neurons represent the GnRH pulse generator that likely drives pulsatile gonadotropin secretion in all mammals. Using an improved GCaMP fiber photometry system enabling long-term continuous recordings, we aimed to establish a definitive profile of ARNKISS neuronal activity across the murine estrous cycle. As noted previously, a substantial reduction in the frequency of ARNKISS neuron synchronization events (SEs) occurs on late proestrus and extends into estrus.
