2D lead halide perovskites (LHPs) show strong excitonic and spin-orbit coupling effects, generating a facile spin injection. Besides, they possess a polaron character due to the soft crystal lattice, which can prolong the spin lifetime, making them favorable materials for spintronic applications. Here, the spin dynamics of 2D PEA PbI (MAPbI ) thin films with different layers by temperature- and pump fluence-dependent circularly polarization-resolved transient absorption (TA) measurements is studied. These results indicate that the spin depolarization mechanism is gradually converted from the Maialle-Silva-Sham (MSS) mechanism to the polaronic states protection mechanism with the layer number increasing from

Two-dimensional (2D) β-TeO has gained attention as a promising material for optoelectronic and power device applications, thanks to its transparency and high hole mobility. However, the mechanisms driving its -type conductivity and dopability remain elusive. In this study, we investigate the intrinsic and extrinsic point defects in monolayer and bilayer β-TeO, the latter of which has been experimentally synthesized, using the Heyd-Scuseria-Ernzerhof (HSE) + D3 hybrid functional.

Ectoine is a valuable compatible solute with extensive applications in bioengineering, cosmetics, medicine, and the food industry. While certain halophilic bacteria can naturally produce ectoine, as a model organism for biomanufacturing, offers significant advantages to be engineered for potentially high-level ectoine production. However, complex metabolic flux distributions and byproduct formation present bottlenecks that limit ectoine production in .

Homologous recombination is a key evolutionary force that varies considerably across bacterial species. However, how the landscape of homologous recombination varies across genes and within individual genomes has only been studied in a few species. Here, we used Approximate Bayesian Computation to estimate the recombination rate along the genomes of 145 bacterial species.

Atom-ion hybrid systems are promising platforms for the quantum simulation of polaron physics in certain quantum materials. Here, we investigate the ionic Fermi polaron, a charged impurity in a polarized Fermi bath, at zero temperature using quantum Monte Carlo techniques. We compute the energy spectrum, residue, effective mass, and structural properties.
