The current standard of care for colon cancer surveillance relies heavily on white light endoscopy (WLE). However, dysplastic lesions that are not visible to the naked eye are often missed when conventional WLE equipment is used. Although dye-based chromoendoscopy shows promise, current dyes cannot delineate tumor tissues from surrounding healthy tissues accurately. The goal of the present study was to screen various phthalocyanine (PC) dye-loaded micelles for their ability to improve the direct visualization of tumor tissues under white light following intravenous administration. Zinc PC (tetra--butyl)-loaded micelles were identified as the optimal formulation. Their accumulation within syngeneic breast tumors led the tumors to turn dark blue in color, making them clearly visible to the naked eye. These micelles were similarly able to turn spontaneous colorectal adenomas in Apc mice a dark blue color for easy identification and could enable clinicians to more effectively detect and remove colonic polyps.

Plant factories with artificial lighting (PFALs) are a notable choice for urban agriculture due to the system's benefits, where light can be manipulated to enhance the product's yield and quality. Our objective was to test the effect of light spectra with different red-blue combinations and white light on the growth, physiology, and overall quality of three baby-leaf vegetables (green lettuce, kale, and pak choi) grown in a restaurant's PFAL. Leaf mass per area was lower under the most blue-containing treatments in all species.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of cancer death in Kuwait. The effectiveness of colonoscopy in preventing CRC is dependent on a high adenoma detection rate (ADR). Computer-aided detection can identify (CADe) and characterize polyps in real time and differentiate benign from neoplastic polyps, but its role remains unclear in screening colonoscopy.

The autologous reconstruction of the female breast using a microsurgical DIEP flap is a reliable and safe method. To detect impairments early and preserve the microvascular flap through timely revision, a better understanding of physiologic perfusion dynamics is necessary. This exploratory study examines changes in microcirculation in free DIEP flaps within the first 72 h after vascular anastomosis using laser Doppler flowmetry and white-light spectrophotometry.

Controlling the microorganisms employed in vinification is a critical factor for successful wine production. Novel methods aimed at lowering sulfites used for wine stabilization are sought. UV-C irradiation has been proposed as an alternative for reducing the viable cell count of microorganisms in wine and grape juice.

The n-TiO nanoballs-sticks (TiO NBSs) were successfully deposited on p-lightly boron-doped diamond (LBDD) substrates by the hydrothermal method. The temperature-dependent optoelectronic properties and carrier transport behavior of the n-TiO NBS/p-LBDD heterojunction were investigated. The photoluminescence (PL) of the heterojunction detected four distinct emission peaks at 402 nm, 410 nm, 429 nm, and 456 nm that have the potential to be applied in white-green light-emitting devices.
