This is a report of a staged comparative study of 120 patients with neurotic (n = 60) and psychotic (n = 60) depressions secondary to a traumatic brain disease. Variants of depressive disturbances were identified. Neurotic disorders included neurasthenic, hysterical, and hypochondriac; psychotic ones--paranoid, hysterical, and adynamic. Alzheimers Dement
December 2024
Center for Alzheimer's Research and Treatment, Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA.
Background: Medical history and healthcare utilization in preclinical Alzheimer's disease (AD) are not well characterized and may reveal indicators associated with asymptomatic stages of AD.
Methods: This retrospective observational study compared 246 Anti-Amyloid Treatment in Asymptomatic AD study (A4) individuals who met elevated brain amyloid eligibility criteria to 121 individuals in the companion Longitudinal Evaluation of Amyloid Risk and Neurodegeneration study (LEARN) who were eligible for A4 except did not meet elevated amyloid eligibility criteria. Matched-controls for A4/LEARN, using a 3:1 match of demographics, Medicare enrollment month, and frailty status, were randomly selected from Medicare beneficiaries without cognitive impairment/dementia claims.

Institute for Mental Health and Policy Research, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
Objective: Since the federal Canadian government legalized cannabis in 2018, cannabis use in the general population has slightly increased. However, little is known about the impact of cannabis legalization on pattens of cannabis use in psychiatric populations.
Method: We studied changes in daily/almost daily and average 30-day cannabis use amongst individuals currently using cannabis who reported past 12-month experiences of specific mental health disorders and among those without past 12-month experiences of any mental health disorder before and after Canadian legalization of recreational cannabis use ( = 13,527).

Purpose: To assess whether exposure to an extended-release (ER) oxycodone with abuse deterrent properties (ADF) reduced tampering of oxycodone in a real-world, postmarket setting to address the thinking behind Category 4 labeling by the FDA.
Methods: Data from an observational cross-sectional study of the general adult population (2022) was used under a causal framework to estimate the confounding-adjusted odds of tampering oxycodone after exposure to two types of ADF ER oxycodone. The tampering behaviors of those who used only single entity immediate-release (SE-IR) oxycodone was used as a comparison.

Importance: Pregnant people with opioid use disorder (OUD) are at high risk for potentially avoidable maternal morbidity. The majority of pregnant people with OUD receive health insurance through state Medicaid programs, but there is little comprehensive data on the burden of severe maternal morbidity (SMM)-a composite measure of adverse maternal health outcomes-among this high-risk group.
Objective: To estimate rates of SMM among Medicaid-enrolled pregnant people with OUD from 2016 to 2018.

Introduction: When a child has a disability, their families face significant challenges that also impact parents' and siblings' mental health and adjustment. We examined the potential bidirectional relationships between parental mental health and sibling mental health and adjustment in families of children with a disability.
Methods: We utilized baseline and 12-month follow-up data from a randomized controlled trial of a brief intervention designed to enhance parent-sibling communication in families of children with a disability.
