Objective: To determine whether Black race is associated with treatment and survival among women with low-risk endometrial cancer.

Methods: Black and White women with Stage IA grade 1-2 endometrioid endometrial carcinoma diagnosed from 2010 to 2016 in the SEER 18 dataset were identified (n = 23,431), and clinical and socioeconomic attributes obtained. Five-year cancer-specific survival (CSS) and relative survival (RS) were calculated using SEER*Stat 8.3.9. Cox proportional hazards model was used to determine predictors of overall survival (OS) and CSS.

Results: There was a significantly higher proportion of Black women who did not have surgery compared to White women (3% vs 1%, respectively; p < 0.0001). Residing in the South, being insured with Medicaid, and residing in a county with low median income were also associated with non-receipt of surgery. Black women remained less likely to undergo hysterectomy on multivariable analysis (OR 0.44, 95% CI 0.32-0.60). Non-receipt of hysterectomy was predictive of decreased CSS (HR 0.14, 95% CI 0.09-0.21) and OS (HR 0.18, 95% 0.14-0.23) on adjusted analysis. Black race was also an independent predictor of increased cancer-specific death (HR 2.07, 95% CI 1.50-2.86) as well as death from any cause (HR 1.74, 95% CI 1.44-2.09) on adjusted analysis.

Conclusions: Black women with low-risk endometrial cancer were less likely to undergo hysterectomy and experienced decreased survival relative to White women. Further investigation is warranted to better understand the socioeconomic, geographic, and biologic factors that influence this disparity.

Background: There is a bidirectional relationship between sleep and pain disturbances. Sleep disturbances increase the risk for chronic pain, while chronic pain can interfere with sleep. Hence, we assessed the subjective sleep characteristics of youth with functional abdominal pain disorders (FAPDs) compared to healthy youth and examined associations with gastrointestinal symptoms.

Background: Intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) treatment for diabetic macular oedema (DME) may begin with several initial monthly doses. Characteristics, treatment patterns and outcomes were compared for eyes with DME that did and did not receive such initial doses.

Methods: This was a retrospective database study using American Academy of Ophthalmology Intelligent Research in Sight Registry data (01/01/15-31/12/20; index period).

Division of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, Department of Pediatrics, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, Cincinnati, OH; Division of Asthma Research, Department of Pediatrics, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, Cincinnati, OH.

Background: Total serum immunoglobulin E (TsIgE) has not been examined in children with food allergy.

Objective: Evaluate associations of TsIgE with patient, household, environmental and community-level characteristics among children with food allergy.

Method: Linear mixed effect models of data from 398 Black and/or African American (B/AA) and White and/or European American (W/EA) children with allergist-diagnosed food allergy from the multi-center, observational cohort FORWARD; TsIgE in kU/L was the primary outcome measure.

Background: Globally, guidelines on the introduction of solid foods to a breastfed infant's diet emphasize the importance of iron-rich foods.

Objective: The objective of this study is to report on adherence to Nutrition for Healthy Term Infants (NHTI) guidance on introduction of iron-rich solid foods first in infants living in Canada; and to explore factors associated with adherence using disaggregated data.

Methods: Nationally representative cross-sectional data from the Canadian Community Health Survey annual cycles 2015-2018 from biological mothers delivering an infant in the past 5 years were used (n=7253).

Although clinical trials should be accessible to all patients, persistent racial and ethnic disparities in clinical trial enrollment exist. Herein, we examine racial disparities in clinical trial enrollment among prostate cancer patients from a large population-based cohort of oncology practices in the United States. Using CancerLinQ Discovery, we identified men with regional (N1+) and/or metastatic (M1) prostate cancer diagnosed from 2011 to 2023.
