Organic materials can tune the optical properties in layered (2D) hybrid perovskites, although their impact on photophysics is often overlooked. Here, we use transient absorption spectroscopy to probe the Dion-Jacobson (DJ) and Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) 2D perovskite phases. We show the formation of charge transfer excitons in DJ phases, resulting in a photoinduced Stark effect which is shown to be dependent on the spacer size. By using electroabsorption spectroscopy, we quantify the strength of the photoinduced electric field, while temperature-dependent measurements demonstrate new features in the transient spectra of RP phases at low temperatures resulting from the quantum-confined Stark effect. This study reveals the impact of spacer size and perovskite phase configuration on charge transfer excitons in 2D perovskites of interest to their advanced material design.

Ya'an Tibetan tea, a dark tea with a rich historical heritage, is typically processed using two primary piling fermentation methods: wet piling with rolled leaves (moisture content around 60%) and dry piling with sun-dried or baked green tea leaves (moisture content below 30%). This study employed sensory evaluation, targeted and non-targeted metabolomics, and fungal Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) sequencing to investigate changes in quality components and fungal composition in Tibetan tea processed by both wet and dry-piling methods. The results revealed that 3,7-Dimethyl-1,5,7-octatriene-3-ol and D-limonene were identified as key volatile metabolites contributing to the aroma variations between the dry and wet-piled teas.

Methods: Patients who underwent Vertiflex ISS with Lumbar Spinal Stenosis (LSS) and a preoperative MRI available in picture archiving and communication system (PACS) between January 2013 to February 2023 were identified retrospectively from the University of Chicago Medical Center Database. An experienced board-certified pain specialist and well-trained 2nd-year medical student independently performed measurements of the interspinous space where Vertiflex ISSs of various sizes are inserted.
