The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of seletracetam (SEL), a potent modulator of synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2A (SV2A), in patients with photoparoxysmal EEG response (PPR) to intermittent photic stimulation (IPS) as proof-of-principle of efficacy in patients with epilepsy. In this multicenter, single-blind Phase II study, adults with photosensitive epilepsy, with/without concomitant antiseizure medication therapy, underwent IPS under 3 eye conditions (at eye closure, eyes closed and eyes open) after a single oral dose of placebo (day - 1) or SEL (day 1; 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 10, or 20 mg).

Neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses (NCLs) are genetically heterogeneous neurodegenerative disorders, characterized by progressive cognitive and motor decline, epilepsy, visual impairment, and shortened life-expectancy. CLN6-related NCLs include both late-infantile and adult myoclonic form. We report a 21-year-old patient, with mild developmental delay, who developed occipital seizures at 14 years, and subsequently cognitive decline, cortical myoclonus, and photosensitivity at low and higher frequencies.

Jeavons syndrome (JS), also known as epilepsy with eyelid myoclonia (EEM), is an idiopathic epileptic syndrome that primarily affects children. JS constitutes a significant portion of idiopathic generalized epilepsies and overall epileptic conditions and is characterized by frequent eyelid myoclonia. JS is often triggered by factors such as eyelid closure and exposure to light, leading to absence seizures with photoparoxysmal responses.

Purpose: In this study, patients with epilepsy with eyelid myoclonia (E-EM) were evaluated according to their EEG findings, seizure outcomes, and their consistency with the final ictal EEG findings. We also investigated the possible prognostic factors.
Methods: Patients with E-EM and at least two years of follow-up in our clinic were included in the study.

Objective: The long-term prognosis of photosensitive idiopathic generalized epilepsy (p-IGE) is generally considered favorable; however, its specific characteristics remain unclear. Our objective was to investigate the extended prognosis of p-IGE.
Methods: We analyzed the demographics, clinical, and electroencephalographic (EEG) data of consecutive patients who were diagnosed as having p-IGE, who were under follow-up for a minimum of 10 years and exhibited a photoparoxysmal response (PPR) in their EEGs.
