Introduction: We and others have shown that electrical stimulation of the PC-6 acupoint over the wrist relieves hypertension by stimulating afferent sensory nerve fibers and activating the central endogenous opioid system. Warm needle acupuncture has long been utilized to treat various diseases in clinics.

Methods: Here, we developed a temperature-controllable warm needle acupuncture instrument (WAI) and investigated the peripheral mechanism underlying the effect of warm needle acupuncture at PC-6 on hypertension in a rat model of immobilization stress-induced hypertension.

Results: Stimulation with our newly developed WAI and traditional warm needle acupuncture attenuated hypertension development. Such effects were reproduced by capsaicin (a TRPV1 agonist) injection into PC-6 or WAI stimulation at 48°C. In contrast, PC-6 pretreatment with the TRPV1 antagonist capsazepine blocked the antihypertensive effect of WAI stimulation at PC-6. WAI stimulation at PC-6 increased the number of dorsal root ganglia double-stained with TRPV1 and CGRP. QX-314 and capsaicin perineural injection into the median nerve for chemical ablation of small afferent nerve fibers (C-fibers) prevented the antihypertensive effect of WAI stimulation at PC-6. Additionally, PC-6 pretreatment with RTX ablated the antihypertensive effect of WAI stimulation.

Conclusion: These findings suggest that warm needle acupuncture at PC-6 activates C-fiber of median nerve and the peripheral TRPV1 receptors to attenuate the development of immobilization stress-induced hypertension in rats.

  • * A study involving 277 breast cancer patients examined the effects of WIT, CIT, and FT on the expression of estrogen receptors (ER), progesterone receptors (PgR), and HER2 in surgical specimens compared to preoperative biopsies.
  • * Findings showed that while ER and PgR expressions tended to decrease with longer CIT and FT, only HER2 expression was significantly affected by WIT exceeding 30 minutes, indicating the importance of

Backgrounds: Warm needle acupuncture is a distinct form of acupuncture therapy in which, after the needle is inserted into the acupoint, a lit moxa stick is placed on the needle's handle.

Objective: This research aims to provide evidence for efficacy and safety of warm needle acupuncture for allergic rhinitis.

Search Strategies: Seven online databases were searched for study collection, which were published up to March 15th, 2022.

Based on Chinese medicine classics, combined with clinical experience and modern research findings, Professor deepens the analysis on the etiology and pathogenesis of neuropathic tinnitus, and has summarized the TCM elements of this disease, including " and blood stagnation" and " (spirit) hidden and orifices closed". The multiple therapies are used in combination, such as acupuncture, electroacupuncture, warm needling, borneol-moxibustion and herbal medication. The different acupoints are combined according to individuals, especially the application of Tinggong (SI 19) and Yamen (GV 15).

Background: Low back pain has become a globally challenging health problem, and about 90% of cases are nonspecific. Due to the risks associated with opioid use and the limited effectiveness of drug treatment, acupuncture and other non-drug methods have become the first-line treatment for this disease. However, the best acupuncture method has not yet been determined.
