We propose a novel format conversion scheme, which can implement multichannel format conversion from return-to-zero (RZ) to non-return-to-zero (NRZ) for both LP and LP simultaneously by designing a few-mode fiber Bragg grating (FM-FBG) with comb spectra. To achieve filtering for all channels of the two modes, the FM-FBG response spectra of LP is designed to shift with that of LP by the WDM-MDM channel spacing. This approach is realized by carefully selecting the specifications of the few-mode fiber (FMF) to fulfill the requirements of the effective refractive index difference between LP and LP. Each single-channel outline of the FM-FBG response spectra is designed according to the algebraic difference between the RZ and NRZ spectra. Numerical results show that both LP and LP channels with 300-GHz-spaced RZ signals at 40 Gbit/s can be converted into NRZ signals simultaneously, and the converted NRZ signals have high Q-factor and their eye diagrams are clean and open.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has great potential and advantages in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Wutou decoction (WTD) was first recorded as a pill in the TCM classical book Synopsis of Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber written by Zhang Zhongjing in the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220 CE). It has significant therapeutic effects in delaying and reversing RA while improving patients' clinical symptoms, making it the best example of TCM treatment for RA.

ITC-MNP: a diverse dataset for image file fragment classification.

BMC Res Notes

December 2024

Information Theory and Coding (ITC) Laboratory, University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran.

Objectives: Image file fragment classification is a critical area of study in digital forensics. However, many publicly available datasets in this field are derived from a single source, often lacking consideration of the diversity in image settings and content. To demonstrate the effectiveness of a given methodology, it is essential to evaluate it using datasets that are sampled from varied data sources.

The aim of this study was to assess efficacy of large language models (LLMs) for converting free-text computed tomography (CT) scan reports of head and neck cancer (HNCa) patients into a structured format using a predefined template.  A retrospective study was conducted using 150 CT reports of HNCa patients. A comprehensive structured reporting template for HNCa CT scans was developed, and the Generative Pre-trained Transformer 4 (GPT-4) was initially used to convert 50 CT reports into a structured format using this template.

The purpose of the current study was to investigate the effects of gum Arabic supplementation on short-chain fatty acids, cecal microbiota, immune-related gene expression, and small intestinal morphology in post-hatched broiler chicks. On the day of hatching, four hundred thirty-two commercial male broiler chicks were randomly allocated into six treatments with twelve cages as replicates of six chicks each for 24 days. Dietary treatments (T1 to T6) were supplemented with 0.

Proteomics is crucial in clinical research, yet the clinical application of proteomic data remains challenging. Transforming proteomic mass spectrometry (MS) data into red, green, and blue color (MS-RGB) image formats and applying deep learning (DL) techniques has shown great potential to enhance analysis efficiency. However, current DL models often fail to extract subtle, crucial features from MS-RGB data.
