is a gram-positive coccus that has been found in various aquatic and terrestrial animals, as well as in dairy products, and is considered a potential zoonotic bacterium. The pathogen has been recognized as an emerging opportunistic human pathogen, often associated with the ingestion of raw seafood. The most common presentation of infection in humans is infective endocarditis, but it has also been found to have associations with other clinical manifestations. The following is a case report of a 6-year-old male with infected bilateral leg abrasions that occurred after playing in a local creek near his home in northern Alabama, which had livestock including goats, cows, and horses. Wound culture indicated that the bacteria was which was found to be sensitive to ceftriaxone, levofloxacin, linezolid, tetracycline, tigecycline, and vancomycin and resistant to clindamycin. The patient was treated with oral cephalexin and topical gentamicin for ten days, after which there appeared to be an overall improvement in wound healing.

Background: Crohn's disease and irritable bowel syndrome may both cause abdominal pain and diarrhea. Irritable bowel syndrome not only is an important differential diagnosis for Crohn's disease but also occurs in one out of three patients with Crohn's disease in remission in parallel. If not adequately diagnosed and treated, additional functional symptoms such as fatigue and/or muscle pain may develop, indicating a more severe course.

Background: With advancements in minimally invasive thoracic surgery techniques, such as video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery and robotic surgery, the design of vascular staplers has evolved to meet the requirements of these procedures. Consequently, newer generations of automatic staplers with improved handling and reduced size have been introduced, such as two-row staplers, which are more maneuverable and less bulky than their three-row counterparts.
Case Presentation: A 68-year-old man with lung cancer underwent a right middle and lower lobectomy due to tumor invasion into the central middle bronchial trunk, rendering the preservation of the middle lobe impossible.

Background: Congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis is a rare but devastating hereditary disease. Congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis is caused by a mutation in the neurotrophic receptor tyrosine kinase 1 gene (NRTK1). The condition is characterized by multiple injuries, recurrent infections, and mental retardation.

In these cases, the antibiotics most often incriminated are macrolides and quinolones, but to our knowledge, there are no published cases of antibiomania secondary to cotrimoxazole. Furthermore, we also provide an update of pharmacovigilance data concerning antibiomania through a search of the World Health Organization (WHO) database.

Preterm infants are at high risk of developing respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). Mutations in the genes encoding for surfactant proteins B and C or the ATP-binding cassette transporter A3 (ABCA3) are rare but known to be associated with severe RDS and interstitial lung diseases. The exact prevalence of these mutations in the general population is difficult to determine, as they are usually studied in connection with clinical symptoms.
