Published: June 2023

A novel anionic heptamethine cyanine (HMC) dye with two trifluoromethyl groups that selectively absorb near-infrared light is synthesized. When contrasted with previously studied anionic HMC dyes with substituents such as methyl, phenyl, and pentafluorophenyl groups, the trifluoromethylated dye displays a red-shifted maximum absorption wavelength (for instance, 948 nm in CHCl) along with enhanced photostability. Furthermore, HMC dyes with broad absorption in the near-infrared region are synthesized by combining a trifluoromethylated anionic HMC dye with a cationic HMC dye as a counterion.

Photodynamic Therapy Using IR-783 Liposomes for Advanced Tongue and Breast Cancers in Humans.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a minimally invasive treatment that elicits tumor apoptosis using laser light exclusively applied to the tumor site. IR-783, a heptamethine cyanine (HMC) dye, impedes the proliferation of breast cancer cells, even without light. Although studies have investigated the efficacy of IR-783 in cell and animal studies, its efficacy in clinical settings remains unknown.

Electronic address:

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a prevalent malignancy with insidious onset and diagnostic challenges, highlighting the need for therapeutic approaches to enhance theranostic outcomes. In this study, we elucidated the unique temperature-resistant properties of the oncolytic vaccinia virus (OVV), which can synergistically target tumors under photothermal conditions. To capitalize on this characteristic, we harnessed the potential of the OVV by surface-loading it with indocyanine green (ICG) and encapsulating it within a platelet membrane (PLTM), resulting in the creation of PLTM-ICG-OVV (PIOVV).

MRI-CEUS fusion-guided lymphatic mapping as a preoperative strategy for lymphedema patients undergoing lymphaticovenous anastomosis surgery.

J Vasc Surg Venous Lymphat Disord

September 2024

Cancer Center, Department of Ultrasound Medicine, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital (Affiliated People's Hospital), Hangzhou Medical College, Hangzhou, China. Electronic address:

Objective: Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) is useful in mapping lymphatic vessels in upper limb lymphedema; this study was aimed to evaluate its efficiency in lower limb lymphedema and investigate whether magnetic resonance lymphangiography (MRL) enhance the efficiency of CEUS.

Methods: This retrospective study enrolled 48 patients with lymphedema undergoing lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA) surgery who received MRL and/or CEUS in addition to conventional indocyanine green (ICG) lymphangiography. The number of anastomotic sites and the duration per site (DPS) for LVA surgery were described and compared.

Background: Near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) angiography with intraoperative administration of indocyanine green (ICG) has rapidly disseminated in clinical practice. Another clinically approved, and widely available dye, methylene blue (MB), has up to now not been used for this purpose. Recently, we demonstrated promising results for the real-time evaluation of intestinal perfusion using this dye.

The current study focuses on boosting the photocatalytic ability of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) by decorating the rGO nano-sheets with nickel oxide (NiO) and silver (Ag) nanomaterials. The developed ternary nanomaterials were investigated using FTIR, XRD, FESEM, TEM, Raman, and UV-vis to evaluate the photo-degradation process. The rGO/NiO/Ag ternary system showed promising photocatalytic dye degradation under simulated sunlight irradiance.
