The brain requires over one-fifth of the total body oxygen demand for normal functioning. At high altitude (HA), the lower atmospheric oxygen pressure inevitably challenges the brain, affecting voluntary spatial attention, cognitive processing, and attention speed after short-term, long-term, or lifespan exposure. Molecular responses to HA are controlled mainly by hypoxia-inducible factors. This review aims to summarize the cellular, metabolic, and functional alterations in the brain at HA with a focus on the role of hypoxia-inducible factors in controlling the hypoxic ventilatory response, neuronal survival, metabolism, neurogenesis, synaptogenesis, and plasticity.

: Assessing vector bionomics is crucial to improving vector control strategies. Several entomological studies have been conducted to describe malaria transmission in different eco-epidemiological settings in Cameroon; knowledge gaps persist, particularly in highland areas. This study aimed to characterize malaria vectors in three localities along an altitudinal gradient in the western region: Santchou (700 m), Dschang (1400 m), and Penka Michel (1500 m).

, a high-altitude medicinal herb, possesses diverse therapeutic properties. This study conducted a comprehensive phytochemical analysis of the whole plant, leading to the isolation of 15 secondary metabolites (1-15) across various classes: flavonoids (), triterpenoids (, ), sesquiterpenoid lactones (, ) and furanocoumarins (, ) along with three steroids (). These compounds were characterized using NMR (HNMR,C NMR, 2D NMR), IR, HRMS and UV-VIS.

The lack of molecular backscattering detection capability has limited the calibrated backscattering measurements until recent advances in coherent lidar technology. In this work, the simultaneous detection of aerosol and molecular backscattering is demonstrated with coherent heterodyne lidar, and the results are compared with a state-of-the-art Raman lidar PollyXT as a reference in a long-range for the first time.
