Subtle subluxations within the carpus are often difficult to diagnose. Carpal orientation and location can now be quantified by mathematical analysis of computed, three-dimensional models produced from serial CT scans. The technique and its application in the analysis of scaphoid subluxation are described.

The estimation of peripheral dose (PD) is vital in cancer patients with long life expectancy. Assessment of PD to radiosensitive organs is important to determine the possible risk of late effects. An attempt has been made to assess the peripheral dose using optically stimulated luminescence dosimeter (OSLD) with megavoltage photon beams as a function of field size, depth, energy, and distance from the field edge.

Background: Colonic obstructions present a serious medical emergency that requires prompt surgical intervention to prevent life-threatening complications. Cecostomy, a procedure involving the creation of an opening in the cecum to decompress the colon, serves as one surgical approach for managing these obstructions. The aim of this review is to evaluate the effectiveness and benefits of cecostomies in emergency surgical settings, with a focus on recent clinical studies and case reports.

The olfactory sensory system plays vital roles in daily activities, such as locating mate partners, foraging, and risk avoidance. Natural enemies can locate their prey through characteristic volatiles. However, little is known about whether prey can recognize the volatiles of their predators and if this recognition can increase the efficiency of prey escaping from predators.

State Key Laboratory of Animal Biotech Breeding, Key Laboratory of Animal Genetics, Breeding and Reproduction of the Ministry of Agriculture, Frontiers Science Center for Molecular Design Breeding (MOE), College of Animal Science and Technology, China Agricultural University, Beijing 100193, China.

Melatonin is synthesized in multiple tissues and organs of pigs, and existing studies have shown the presence of the melatonin-synthesizing enzyme ASMT protein. However, the genomic information for the gene has been lacking. The aim of this study was to locate the genomic information of the gene in pigs using comparative genomics analysis and then obtain the coding region information through molecular cloning.

Magnetic field-assisted control of magnetite location is a promising strategy for developing flexible, electrically conductive sensors with enhanced performance and adjustable properties. This study investigates the effect of static magnetic fields applied on thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) composites with magnetite and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT). The composites were prepared by compression moulding and the magnetic field was applied on the mould cavity during processing.
