The co-existence of the colistin resistance () gene with multiple drug-resistance genes has raised concerns about the possibility of the development of pan-drug-resistant bacteria that will complicate treatment. This study aimed to investigate the antibiotic resistance profiles and co-existence of antibiotic resistance genes among the colistin-resistant isolates recovered from poultry and poultry meats. The antibiotic susceptibility to various classes of antibiotics was performed using the Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method and selected antimicrobial resistance genes were detected using PCR in a total of 54 colistin-resistant isolates including (. ) (n = 32), spp. (n = 16) and (. ) (n = 6) isolates. Most of the isolates had multi-drug resistance (MDR), with antibiotic resistance against up to seven classes of antibiotics. All -harbouring, colistin-resistant isolates showed this MDR (100%) phenotype. The harbouring . isolates were co-harbouring multiple antibiotic resistance genes. The seven most commonly identified resistance genes (, , , , , , ()) were detected in an -harbouring . isolate recovered from a cloacal swab. The harbouring spp. isolate recovered from poultry meats was positive for , , , , and () genes. In conclusion, the colistin-resistant with genes co-existing multiple clinically important antimicrobial resistance genes in poultry and poultry meats may cause potential future threats to infection treatment choices in humans and animals.

Background: The widespread selective pressure of antibiotics in the environment has led to the propagation of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs). However, the mechanisms by which microbes balance population growth with the enrichment of ARGs remain poorly understood. To address this, we employed microcosm cultivation at different antibiotic (i.

Background: HER2-targeted antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) have revolutionized the treatment landscape of metastatic breast cancer. However, the efficacy of these therapies may be compromised by genomic alterations. Hence, this study aims to identify factors predicting sensitivity to HER2 ADC in metastatic breast cancer.

Center of Infectious Diseases, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Guoxuexiang 37, Chengdu, 610041, China.

Background: Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) is a severe threat for human health and urgently needs new therapeutic approaches. Lytic bacteriophages (phages) are promising clinically viable therapeutic options against CRKP. We attempted to isolate lytic phages against CRKP of sequence type 11 and capsular type 64 (ST11-KL64), the predominant type in China.

Background: Carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) is recognized as a common clinical conditional pathogen with bla gene-mediated multidrug-resistance that is a significant threat to public health safety. Timely and effective infection control measures are needed to prevent their spread.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of CRAB patients at three teaching hospitals from 2019 to 2022.

Background: Genomic surveillance is extensively used for tracking public health outbreaks and healthcare-associated pathogens. Despite advancements in bioinformatics pipelines, there are still significant challenges in terms of infrastructure, expertise, and security when it comes to continuous surveillance. The existing pipelines often require the user to set up and manage their own infrastructure and are not designed for continuous surveillance that demands integration of new and regularly generated sequencing data with previous analyses.
