The genus , commonly found in fermented foods, is a significant group of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) with potential probiotic properties. Several strains have been proposed as probiotics due to their biotechnological capabilities. However, a few strains may exhibit opportunistic pathogenic behavior, which restricts the widespread use of all strains in food applications.

Peptidoglycan (PGN) is a unique component of prokaryotic cell walls with immune-enhancing capacities. Here, we extracted PGN from , a by-product of amino acid fermentation, using the trichloroacetic acid (TCA) method. SDS-PAGE analysis confirmed the presence of PGN, with a band of approximately 28 kDa.

This paper presents the synthesis and characterization of new thiosemicarbazone derivatives with potential applications as antibacterial, antioxidant and anticancer agents. Six thiosemicarbazone derivatives (L-L5) were synthesized by reacting an appropriate thiosemicarbazide derivative with 2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde. The structures of the obtained compounds were confirmed using mass spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy, and NMR spectroscopy.

Immobilization of Paenibacillus polymyxa has been proposed to improve the cell stability and efficiency of the fermentation process, reduce contamination and provide easy separation of butanediol in the culture broth as compared to conventional bioprocesses. This research aimed to explore the potential of Paenibacillus polymyxa with immobilization technique to produce 2,3-butanediol.
