Stakeholder Perspectives on Sensors and Automation in the Louisiana Sugarcane Industry.

Sugar Tech

Audubon Sugar Institute, LSU AgCenter, 3845, Hwy 75, St. Gabriel, LA 70776 USA.

Published: April 2023

Unlabelled: The sugarcane processing industry in the U.S. state of Louisiana is on the verge of a transformation toward increased automation and real-time data analytics through the adoption of sensor networks. As part of this transition, it was imperative to obtain the current insight and feedback on sensors, automation, and data analytics from sugarcane processors. A short survey was circulated to assess the perspectives of industry stakeholders and seek their feedback on the prime needs for sensors, challenges in incorporating these, and outlook on real-time data analytics and predictive models in processing. Compilation of responses is presented, along with examples of industrially relevant projects that involve sensor networks, real-time data analytics, and artificial intelligence.

Decoding Epilepsy: Prickle2 and Multifaceted Molecular Pathway Connections.

Curr Pharm Des

January 2025

Hubei Key Laboratory of Tumor Microenvironment and Immunotherapy, China Three Gorges University, Yichang, Hubei, China.

Background: The Prickle2 (Pk2) gene shows promising potential in uncovering the underlying causes of epilepsy, a neurological disorder that is currently not well understood. This paper utilizes the online tool PubMed to gather and condense information on the involvement of PCP channels and the associated roles of PCP pathway molecules in the onset of epilepsy. These findings are significant for advancing epilepsy treatment.

The presence of N-nitrosamine impurities in pharmaceutical products is well known. In 2019, it resulted in drug recall by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Soon, several groups identified the presence of many N-nitrosamines (NAs) in various Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and drug formulations worldwide.

While the direct health impacts of air pollution are widely discussed, its indirect effects, particularly during pandemics, are less explored. Utilizing detailed individual-level data from all designated hospitals in Wuhan during the initial COVID-19 outbreak, we examine the impact of air pollution exposure on treatment costs and health outcomes for COVID-19 patients. Our findings reveal that patients exposed more intensively to air pollution, identified by their residence in downwind areas of high-polluting enterprises, not only had worsened health outcomes but also consumed more medical resources.

Aim: To identify the barriers and enablers in the implementation of evidence-based physical activity (PA) programmes for the improvement of health outcomes among pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), and to develop strategies for implementing this evidence in clinical practice.

Methods: A convergent mixed-methods study was conducted, integrating a descriptive qualitative research design with a cross-sectional survey. In-depth interview was used to collect the views and cognitions about physical activity from medical staff, leaders and pregnant women.

Introduction: The current standard of care of patients with spondyloarthritis (SpA), in addition to pharmacological treatment, includes regular exercise and patient education.(1) The primary goal of this systematic literature review (SLR) is to update the evidence of the effectiveness of education programs for patients with axial SpA (axSpA).

Methods: We systematically searched three databases, PubMed, Embase and Web of Science Core Collection, from January 2000 to June 2023, using the following terms: "patient education", "patient counselling", "patient teaching", "patient engaging", "patient empowerment", "health education", "spondyloarthritis", "spondyloarthropaties", "spondylitis" and "ankylosing spondylitis".
