The use of the vacuum extractor at cesarean section has been advocated in order to avoid extension of the uterine incision and to facilitate the delivery of a floating head. We have evaluated, prospectively and retrospectively, the neonatal outcome of vacuum extraction at cesarean section in comparison with regular cesarean section. The interval between the final uterine incision and complete delivery (U-D interval) was significantly prolonged (P less than 0.01) in 8 cases of vacuum extraction (Group A) when prospectively compared with 10 cases of regular cesarean section (Group B). The Apgar scores, the acid-base values at delivery and the clinical course of the two groups were not significantly different. Although analysis of our prospective data suggests a trend of an association between prolongation of the U-D interval and neonatal depression, our retrospective data of 34 neonates delivered by vacuum extraction at cesarean section and 44 neonates delivered by regular cesarean section, showed no significant untoward effect when the vacuum extractor was utilized. Since prolongation of the U-D interval may have an undesireable effect on the fetus, we advocate extra caution in the use of this method.

Unlabelled: Potato peels are one of the most under-utilized wastes which can be highly beneficial to mankind. The red potato peel powder was prepared by using tray drying and vacuum-oven drying method. The proximate analysis of red potato peel powder was conducted followed by its characterization which includes FT-IR, XRD, TGA, DSC, and SEM.

Alkali antimonide semiconductor photocathodes are promising candidates for high-brightness electron sources for advanced accelerators, including free-electron lasers (FEL), due to their high quantum efficiency (QE), low emittance, and high temporal resolution. Two challenges with these photocathodes are (1) the lack of a universal deposition recipe to achieve crystal stoichiometries and (2) their high susceptibility to vacuum contamination, which restricts their operation pressure to ultrahigh vacuums and leads to a short lifetime and low extraction charge. To resolve these issues, it is essential to understand the elemental compositions of deposited photocathodes and correlate them to robustness.

Nickel oxide (NiO) is considered as a potential hole transport material in the fabrication of lead-tin (Pb-Sn) perovskite solar cells (PSCs) for tandem applications. However, the energy level mismatch and unfavorable redox reactions between Ni species and Sn at the NiO/perovskite interface pose challenges. Herein, high-performance Pb-Sn-based inorganic PSCs are demonstrated by modulating the NiO/perovskite interface with a multifunctional 4-aminobenzenesulfonic acid (4-ABSA) interlayer.

Objective: To explore the effects and safety of the flexible vacuum-assisted ureteral access sheath combined with a flexible ureteroscope for the treatment of large renal stones over 3 cm.
Methods: In this retrospective study, 122 patients with kidney stones (stone diameter ≥ 3 cm) admitted to our hospital from January 2018 to December 2022 were selected as the study subjects. According to different surgical methods, these patients were divided into an observation group and a control group, with 61 cases in each group.
