A thrombus is the most common intracardiac lesion. Isolated thrombi usually occur in the setting of ventricular dysfunction, such as a dyskinetic or hypokinetic myocardial wall, following an acute myocardial infarction (MI) or in cardiomyopathies (CM). Concurrent biventricular thrombus formation is rare. There are no clear guidelines for the treatment of biventricular thrombus. In this report, we describe our experience of the successful treatment of a case of biventricular thrombus with warfarin and rivaroxaban.

A thrombus straddling a patent foramen ovale (TSPFO) is a rare condition that presents significant health risks, including stroke or myocardial infarction, and can be life-threatening if not promptly addressed. We report the case of a 42-year-old female with morbid obesity who presented with sudden shortness of breath due to a bilateral pulmonary embolism. Imaging revealed a thrombus extending from the right atrium to the left atrium through the patent foramen ovale (PFO).

Background: The study assesses the feasibility of the DuoCor BiVAS, a novel biventricular assist system integrating magnetic levitation technology.
Methods: In an acute large animal model involving five sheep, each received the DuoCor BiVAS without cardiopulmonary bypass. Hemodynamic and device parameters were monitored continuously for 1-h post-implantation.

Over the previous 20 years, the use of extracorporeal membranous oxygenation (ECMO) as a bridge to durable left ventricular assist device (dLVAD) increased significantly. Additionally, emerging literature has demonstrated a protective effect of biventricular decompression while on ECMO, with one such strategy including a temporary LVAD and right ventricular assist device (RVAD). The complexity of these operations is increased by the frequency of re-sternotomies, which result in adhesions and difficult access to traditional cannulation sites.
