Repairable adhesive elastomers are emerging materials employed in compelling applications such as soft robotics, biosensing, tissue regeneration, and wearable electronics. Facilitating adhesion requires strong interactions, while self-healing requires bond dynamicity. This contrast in desired bond characteristics presents a challenge in the design of healable adhesive elastomers. Furthermore, 3D printability of this novel class of materials has received limited attention, restricting the potential design space of as-built geometries. Here, we report a series of 3D-printable elastomeric materials with self-healing ability and adhesive properties. Repairability is obtained using Thiol-Michael dynamic crosslinkers incorporated into the polymer backbone, while adhesion is facilitated with acrylate monomers. Elastomeric materials with excellent elongation up to 2000%, self-healing stress recovery >95%, and strong adhesion with metallic and polymeric surfaces are demonstrated. Complex functional structures are successfully 3D printed using a commercial digital light processing (DLP) printer. Shape-selective lifting of low surface energy poly(tetrafluoroethylene) objects is achieved using soft robotic actuators with interchangeable 3D-printed adhesive end effectors, wherein tailored contour matching leads to increased adhesion and successful lifting capacity. The demonstrated utility of these adhesive elastomers provides unique capabilities to easily program soft robot functionality.

Integrated stretchable devices, containing soft modules, rigid modules, and encapsulation modules, are of potential use in implantable bioelectronics and wearable devices. However, such systems often suffer from electrical deterioration due to debonding failure at the connection between rigid and soft modules induced by severe stress concentration, limiting their practical implementation. Here, we report a highly conductive and adhesive bilayer interface that can reliably connect soft-soft modules and soft-rigid modules together by simply pressing without conductive pastes.

Considering the complexity in terms of design that characterizes the different tissues of the human body, it is necessary to study and develop more precise therapies. In this sense, this article presents the possibility of fabricating photocurable thermosensitive hydrogels with free geometry and based on N-Vinyl Caprolactam (VCL) with the aim of modulating the adhesion of non-planar cell cultures. The fabrication process is based on the use as a mold of two-layer thick water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) previously printed by Extrusion Material (MatEx).

This study aimed to investigate the influence of different coarse aggregate mineral compositions on the skid resistance performance of asphalt pavement. The imprint method was utilized to assess the contact probability between various graded asphalt surface aggregates and tires. Additionally, macroscopic adhesive friction coefficients between polished surfaces of three types of rock slabs (basalt, limestone, granite) and rubber were determined using a pendulum friction tester.

Purpose: This study was aimed to compare the difference between iRoot SP and AH Plus on root canal sealing ability for teeth extracted due to severe periodontitis and explore whether the dentin tubule pathway plays an important role in the development of endodontic-periodontic lesions(EPL), in order to provide a theoretical basis for selection of proper time for root canal therapy and suitable root canal sealants in patients with EPL.
Methods: Fifty single-root anterior teeth extracted due to severe periodontitis were selected. The roots were completely debrided to remove the calculus, dental plaque and cementum.

Metal-elastomer assemblies, such as aluminum-NBR and stainless steel-FKM, widely used for sealing or damping functions in various fields, are currently prepared with highly toxic bonding agents. To substitute the use of these liquids, plasma technologies were applied. The chemical nature of the plasma polymerized adhesives is found to have no influence on the viscoelastic properties of the elastomer.
