Taxifolin (dihydroquercetin) is a flavanonol isolated from various plants and has antioxidant effects. The aim of our study was to macroscopically and biochemically investigate the effects of taxifolin on aspirin-induced oxidative gastric damage in rats and to evaluate them by comparison with those of famotidine. Rats were divided into four drug administration groups: a healthy control group, an aspirin-only group (ASG), a taxifolin + aspirin group (TASG), and a famotidine + aspirin group (FASG). The results revealed that in light of the results that we obtained, 50 mg/kg taxifolin had anti-ulcer effects. At this dose, taxifolin was able to bring COX-1 activities to a level close to those seen in healthy rats with appropriate macroscopic, oxidant/antioxidant, and biochemical parameters. Based on these results, it can be said that taxifolin may be successfully used as a more potent alternative to famotidine, which is the currently accepted treatment for aspirin-induced ulcers.

The study was carried out to assess the effect of the larch wooly adelgid Vallot (Hemiptera: Adelgidae) infestation on its secondary host, the European larch Mill. Morphology and anatomy of adelgid-infested needles, and content of defense phenolic compounds including individual flavonoids isorhamnetin, kaempferol, quercetin, rutin, catechin, epicatechin, apigenin, ampelopsin and taxifolin, were analyzed. The amount of total phenols in needles from adelgid-infested twigs of increased following the development of the population, from the end of April until the end of June.

Testicular damage is a major complication of chemotherapeutic cyclophosphamide (CP) compound. Taxifolin (TX), a natural flavonoid with well-established anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, is commonly found in various medicinal plants and foods. This study investigated the protective effect of TX against testicular damage in CP-administered mice.

Background: Jujube is a homologous herb of medicine and food, and polyphenols are key in determining the functional effects of jujubes.
Methods: In this study, characteristic polyphenols in 15 varieties of Chinese jujubes were investigated based on untargeted metabolomics.
Results: The results showed that a total of 79 characteristic polyphenols were identified in the 15 varieties of Chinese jujube, and 55 characteristic polyphenols such as syringetin, spinosin and kaempferol were reported for the first time.
