We propose a theoretical procedure for accurate determination of reduction potentials for three metallocene couples, CpM/CpM, where M = Fe, Co and Ni. This procedure first computes the gas phase ionization energy (IE) using the explicitly correlated CCSD(T)-F12 method and includes the zero-point energy correction, core-valence electronic correlation, and relativistic and spin-orbit coupling effects. By means of Born-Haber thermochemical cycle, the one-electron reduction potential is obtained as the sum of the gas phase IE and the corresponding Gibbs free energies of solvation (Δ) for both the neutral and cationic species. Among the three solvent models (PCM, SMD and uESE) investigated here, it turns out that only the SMD model (computed at the DFT level) gives the best estimation of the value for "Δ(cation) - Δ(neutral)" and thus, combining with the accurate IE values, the theoretical protocol is capable of yielding reliable values (in V) for , and . These predictions compare favorably with the available experimental data (in V): , , and . We show that our theoretical procedure is reliable for accurate reduction potential predictions of CpFe/CpFe, CpCo/CpCo and CpNi/CpNi redox couples in aqueous and non-aqueous media; the maximum absolute deviation is as small as ≈120 mV, which outperforms those of the existing theoretical methods.

The low sulfur selectivity of Fe-based HS-selective catalytic oxidation catalysts is still a problem, especially at a high O content. This is alleviated here through anchoring FeO nanoclusters on UiO-66 via the formation of Fe-O-Zr bonds. The introduced FeO species exist in the form of Fe and Fe.

We report full quantum-computed average microcanonical, initial state-specific, and canonical cumulative time-delays associated with the O + O scattering, presented as a function of total energy (in relation to an idealized molecular beam experiment) or temperature (for the properties of the gas phase in bulk conditions). We show that these quantities are well-defined and computable, with a temperature-dependent (canonical) time-delay presenting a smooth, monotonic decreasing behavior with temperature, despite an energy-dependent (microcanonical) time-delay of apparent chaotic character. We discuss differences in behavior when considering isotopic variations, O + OO and O + OO, with respect to the reference process O + OO and reveal a greater magnitude of the cumulative time-delay when genuinely reactive events can take place, in the presence of O.

A novel method was established using a restricted access material combined with a molecularly imprinted polymer (RAM-MIP) as the sorbent material in solid phase extraction (SPE) for clean-up of α-endosulfan, β-endosulfan, endosulfate, endosulfan-ether, endosulfan lactone, heptachlor, heptachlor--epoxide, and heptachlor--epoxide in pork and gas chromatography (GC) for determination. The RAM-MIP was prepared by precipitation polymerization by using endosulfan as the template, methacrylic acid (MAA) as the monomer, glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) as the pro-hydrophilic co-monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as the crosslinker, azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as the initiator, and toluene as the porogen. Ultraviolet spectroscopy (UV) and H-nuclear magnetic resonance (H-NMR) analysis verified that MAA interacted specifically with endosulfan in a ratio of 1 : 1 in the pre-polymerization solution.

Ankle push-off is important for efficient, human-like walking, and many prosthetic devices mimic push-off using motors or elastic elements. The knee is extended throughout the stance phase and begins to buckle just before push-off, with timing being crucial. However, the exact mechanisms behind this buckling are still unclear.

The increased use of dairy fat in various applications is facilitated by its fractionation into hard and liquid fractions. Herein, the fractionation of bovine ghee and buffalo ghee was investigated, and triacylglycerol (TAG) profiles of milk fat fractions and 2 categories of infant formulas fat were quantified by using ultra-performance convergence chromatography quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPC-Q-TOF-MS) using carbon dioxide as the mobile phase. Furthermore, the thermal behavior of the different samples was evaluated, and tocopherols content was also quantified.
