The PSD-95 homolog, DLG1, is important for excitatory synapse structure and function throughout the nervous system. In this issue of , Parisi et al. present a tool, , that enables cell-specific DLG1 visualization without altering basal synaptic physiology. This tool will potentially enhance our understanding of neuronal development and function in both circuits and individual synapses.
