The esophagus undergoes shrinkage after resection and fixation. The surgical in situ margin is greater than the specimen margin, measured by the pathologist. The length of disease-free margins is critical to therapeutic planning. We propose specimen fixing to avoid discrepancies between the operative finding and the pathological result.

Recent data point to a significant role for metabolic reprogramming, namely dysregulated lactic acid metabolism, in the evolution of STAD and treatment resistance. This study used a series of artificial intelligence-related approaches to identify IGFBP7, a Schlafen family member, as a critical factor in determining the response to immunotherapy and lactic acid metabolism in STAD patients.

Background: To investigate the neuroanatomical characteristics at the whole-brain level associated with progression from amyloid-positive preclinical to prodromal Alzheimer's disease (AD) in relation to amyloid deposition and regional atrophy.
Method: We included 45 participants with amyloid-positive preclinical AD and 135 participants with prodromal AD matched 1:3 by age, sex, and education, from participants in the Korean Longitudinal Study on Cognitive Aging and Dementia and visitors to the dementia clinic of Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. All participants underwent F-florbetaben positron emission tomography and 3D structural T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging.
