The esophagus undergoes shrinkage after resection and fixation. The surgical in situ margin is greater than the specimen margin, measured by the pathologist. The length of disease-free margins is critical to therapeutic planning. We propose specimen fixing to avoid discrepancies between the operative finding and the pathological result.

Background: Osteoporosis (OP) is a skeletal condition characterized by increased susceptibility to fractures. Programmed cell death (PCD) is the orderly process of cells ending their own life that has not been thoroughly explored in relation to OP.
Objective: This study is to investigate PCD-related genes in OP, shedding light on potential mechanisms underlying the disease.

Recent studies have highlighted the critical role of lipid metabolism in macrophages concerning lung inflammation. However, it remains unclear whether lipid metabolism is involved in macrophage extracellular traps (METs). We analyzed the GSE40885 dataset from the GEO database using weighted correlation network analysis (WGCNA) and further selection using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression.

Recurrent miscarriage (RM) is a reproductive disorder affecting couples worldwide. The underlying molecular mechanisms remain elusive, even though emerging evidence has implicated endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS). We investigated RM- and ERS-related genes to develop a diagnostic model that can enhance predictive ability.

Due to considerable tumour heterogeneity, stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD) has a poor prognosis and varies in response to treatment, making it one of the main causes of cancer-related mortality globally. Recent data point to a significant role for metabolic reprogramming, namely dysregulated lactic acid metabolism, in the evolution of STAD and treatment resistance. This study used a series of artificial intelligence-related approaches to identify IGFBP7, a Schlafen family member, as a critical factor in determining the response to immunotherapy and lactic acid metabolism in STAD patients.

Background: To investigate the neuroanatomical characteristics at the whole-brain level associated with progression from amyloid-positive preclinical to prodromal Alzheimer's disease (AD) in relation to amyloid deposition and regional atrophy.
Method: We included 45 participants with amyloid-positive preclinical AD and 135 participants with prodromal AD matched 1:3 by age, sex, and education, from participants in the Korean Longitudinal Study on Cognitive Aging and Dementia and visitors to the dementia clinic of Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. All participants underwent F-florbetaben positron emission tomography and 3D structural T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging.
