This study aimed to document the prevalence, serotype distribution and antibiotic resistance of nontyphoidal in animal food products from Middle East/North Africa (MENA) countries. Peer-reviewed articles published from 1 January 2011 to 7 March 2023 were included and the data were narratively synthesized and statistically analyzed to estimate and compare the overall prevalence. The authors found a high prevalence of in MENA countries (12.80%), with the highest prevalence in Lebanon (41.10%). Poultry had a higher prevalence of (14.49%) than livestock (9.62%). was the most commonly identified serotype (21.99%), and sulfamethoxazole had the highest resistance rate (78.81%). The authors emphasize the importance of implementing control measures in MENA countries to limit the spread of the pathogen.

Background/objectives: Seasonal influenza is a significant global health concern, causing substantial morbidity and mortality, particularly among high-risk groups such as children under five years old. There is scarce local evidence from developing countries such as Jordan on the burden of influenza, which has limited preventive measures. This multi-center national cross-sectional study aimed to assess the epidemiological and clinical burden of influenza among hospitalized children under five years old in Jordan.

Scorpion fauna is abundant in regions with arid and semi-arid climates, exposing these areas to a risk of envenomation, especially for children. Scorpion envenomations cause thousands of deaths each year, with notable incidences in the MENA region, South America, Latin and Central America, and India. Morocco is one of the countries most affected by this phenomenon; according to statistics from the Moroccan Poison Control and Pharmacovigilance Center (CAPM), approximately 8,565 scorpion stings and envenomations were recorded annually between 2016 and 2022, mainly among children.

Introduction: The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is characterised by major health disparities and complex migration flows. Yet, because of a lack of epidemiological data, there is an urgent need to strengthen routine data collection around migrant health and to define key indicators towards migrant health monitoring. To address this problem, we aim to design and pilot test the Migrant Health Country Profile tool (MHCP-t) which can collate country-level data collection around migration health data, policies and healthcare provision.
