Pre -harvest sprouting (PHS) is an important problem in cereal production reducing yield and grain quality. After decades of improvement, triticale remains particularly susceptible to PHS but no resistance genes or QTLs were identified so far in this species. As wheat shares the A and B genomes with triticale, wheat PHS resistance genes can be introgressed into triticale genome by recombination after interspecific crosses. In this project, three PHS resistance genes have been transferred from wheat to triticale by marker-assisted interspecific crosses, followed by four backcrosses. The gene from the 3AS chromosome of cultivar Zenkoujikomugi (Zen) and the and , respectively located on the 4AL and 5BL chromosomes derived both from cultivar Aus1408, were pyramided in the triticale cultivar Cosinus. Only the gene increases consistently the PHS resistance in triticale. The lack of efficacy of the other two genes, especially , could be the result of an imperfect linkage between the marker and the gene of interest. The introduction of PHS resistance genes did not alter agronomic nor disease resistance performances of triticale. This approach leads to two new, agronomically performant and PHS-resistant triticale cultivars. Today, two breeding triticale lines are ready to enter the official registration process.

synthesizes aromatic amino acids (AAAs) through the common pathway to produce the precursor, chorismate, and the three terminal pathways to convert chorismate into Phe, Tyr, and Trp. also imports exogenous AAAs through five transporters. GcvB small RNA post-transcriptionally regulates more than 50 genes involved in amino acid uptake and biosynthesis in , but the full extent of GcvB regulon is still underestimated.

Department of Pharmacology, Center for Pharmacogenomics, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois, USA.

Clopidogrel, an anti-platelet drug, is used to prevent thrombosis after percutaneous coronary intervention. Clopidogrel resistance results in recurring ischemic events, with African Americans (AA) suffering disproportionately. The aim of this study was to discover novel biomarkers of clopidogrel resistance in African Americans using genome and transcriptome data.

Colistin resistance threatens global health as it compromises the effectiveness of a last-resort antibiotic. We present the complete genome sequence of ST462, which carries the gene, isolated from a pediatric diarrhea case in southern Vietnam. The 5,049,362 bp genome contains 24 resistance genes distributed across 107 contigs.

Ceftriaxone-resistant Enterobacterales remain a public health threat; contemporary data investigating their molecular epidemiology are limited. Five hundred consecutive ceftriaxone-resistant (MIC ≥ 4 µg/mL) Enterobacterales bloodstream isolates were collected between 2018 and 2022 from three Maryland hospitals. Broth microdilution confirmed antibiotic susceptibilities.
