Correct identification of species is crucial for invasion ecology and management, particularly in aquatic systems. In this study, specimens of the freshwater shrimp genus from Kyushu and southern Honshuof Japan were identified by using an integrative approach that combined DNA barcoding of mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit I () and morphological examination. Numerous environmental pollutants exhibit ototoxicity and cause damage to the lateral line structures in fish, including the neuromast and its hair cells. The lateral line is used to detect hydrodynamic changes and is thought to play a significant role in aggressive interactions. Fighting behaviors in fish are crucial for establishing social hierarchy and obtaining limited resources.

Confidence intervals of location of calling marine mammals, derived from time differences of arrival (TDOA) between receivers, depend on errors of TDOAs, receiver location, clocks, sound speeds, and location method. Simulations demonstrate Ishmael, a TDOA locator based on uncorrected least squares minimization (ULSM), yields errors with mean, standard deviation, and maximum of 0.1, 0.
