The parasites are one of the important protozoa species affecting domestic poultry and wild birds. Though there are frequent reports about the incidence of in wild birds, the information regarding the occurrence of commercial poultry is underestimated. From October 2015 to August 2022, ailing and dead birds from 39 commercial layer flocks were submitted to the Poultry Disease Diagnosis and Surveillance Laboratory, Namakkal, with a history of brief illness, followed by mortality with oozing of blood from oro-nasal orifice.

Background: While the widespread use of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) has significantly reduced the incidence of early esophageal cancer (ESCA), the limited ability of ESD to strip deep infiltrating esophageal lesions results in a considerable risk of intraoperative perforation. Circulating-free DNA (cfDNA) is widely used in modern tumor screening due to its non-invasive detection capabilities. A methylation analysis offers vital insights into the condition and advancement of malignancies due to its unique positioning, such as a marker of cancer.

Lymphocyte radiosensitivity: An extension to the linear-quadratic model?

Radiother Oncol

September 2024

Université de Caen Normandie, CNRS, Normandie Université, ISTCT UMR6030, GIP CYCERON, F-14000 Caen, France. Electronic address:

Background And Purpose: The linear-quadratic (LQ) model has been pivotal for evaluating the effects of radiation on cells, but it is primarily characterized by linear responses, which has exhibited limitations when applied to lymphocyte data. The present research aims to address these limitations and to explore an alternative model extended from the conventional LQ model.

Materials And Methods: Literature providing lymphocyte counts from assays investigating apoptosis and survival after in vitro irradiation was selected.

Discrepancies in Splenic Size Measurement: A Comparative Analysis of Ultrasound and Computed Tomography.

Diagnostics (Basel)

April 2024

Department of Radiology, Konkuk University Medical Center, 120-1, Neungdong-ro, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul 05030, Republic of Korea.

The accurate measurement of splenic size is essential for the diagnosis and management of various gastrointestinal and hematological conditions. While ultrasound (US) and computed tomography (CT) are widely used imaging modalities for assessing splenic size, discrepancies between their measurements have been observed in clinical practice. This study aimed to analyze the measurement differences between US and CT and identify factors influencing these differences.

Postmortem concentrations for total blood carbon monoxide (TBCO) as a novel biomarker for carbon monoxide (CO) poisonings.

J Anal Toxicol

June 2024

Department of Forensic Medicine, Laboratoire National de Santé, 1 Rue Louis Rech, Dudelange 3555, Luxemburg.

Total blood carbon monoxide (TBCO) showed promising results in improving accuracy of CO determinations in blood and presenting better stability to different storage conditions. Therefore, it was proposed as an alternative biomarker to carboxyhemoglobin (COHb) for CO poisoning diagnosis. However, given that current interpretation reference values exist for COHb only, it is difficult to implement TBCO analysis in routine.
