This article presents the results of investigations on heterophase polymerization of vinyl monomers in the presence of organosilicon compounds of different structures. On the basis of the detailed study of the kinetic and topochemical regularities of the heterophase polymerization of vinyl monomers, the conditions for the synthesis of polymer suspensions with a narrow particle-size distribution using a one-step method have been determined.

First, an organic semiconductor fluorescent molecule of 4',4″,4"'-(2,4,6-triphenyl-1,3,5-triazine)-4-(-diphenyl-(1,1'-biphenyl)-4-amine (TPTz) is successfully synthesized by the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction of 2,4,6-tris(4-bromophenyl)-1,3,5-triazine with 4-(diphenylamino)phenylboronic acid. TPTz offers as high as 85% fluorescence quantum yield and a strong solvent effect, with fluorescent colors across the visible spectrum in different solvents. Then, an organic-inorganic hybrid fluorescent porous polymer of PCS-TPTz with a surface area of 714 m g and pore volume of 0.

The dual concepts of monomer equilibrium and monomer transport in emulsion and miniemulsion polymerization are discussed in depth. The concepts must be considered together since, first, dispersed-phase polymerizations (in this case emulsion and miniemulsion polymerizations) are by their nature multiphase systems that function only due to interphase mass transfer; and second, because phase equilibrium determines the driving force for monomer transport in these (and all heterophase reaction) systems. Concepts of polymer particle swelling are reviewed, and the question first addressed by Paul Flory in the 1950s: is revisited in detail.

Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) physical cryogels that contained the additives of -, -, and -bis-phenols or phenol were prepared, and their physico-chemical characteristics and macroporous morphology and the solute release dynamics were evaluated. These phenolic additives caused changes in the viscosity of initial PVA solutions before their freeze-thaw processing and facilitated the growth in the rigidity of the resultant cryogels, while their heat endurance decreased. The magnitude of the effects depended on the interposition of phenolic hydroxyls in the molecules of the used additives and was stipulated by their H-bonding with PVA OH-groups.

Highly permeable polyamide (PA) membrane capable of precise ionic sieving can be utilized for many energy-efficient chemical separations. To fulfill this target, it is crucial to innovate membrane-forming process to induce a narrow pore-size distribution. Herein, we report an anhydrous interfacial polymerization (AIP) at a solid-liquid interface where the amine layer sublimated is in direct contact with the alkane containing acyl chlorides.
