Background: The objective of this study was to evaluate clinicopathologic features of young patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) and to compare their prognosis with those of older patients Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients who underwent surgery for stage 0-III CRC at four university-affiliated hospitals between January 2011 and December 2020. The patients were divided into two groups, the young adult group (≤45 years) and the older group (>45 years).
Results: Of 1992 patients, 93 (4.6%) were young adults and 1899 (95.3%) were older patients. Young patients showed more symptoms ( = 0.014) and more poorly or undifferentiated adenocarcinoma ( = 0.047) than older patients. The young adult patients were more likely to receive adjuvant chemotherapy ( < 0.001) and multidrug agents ( = 0.029), and less likely to cease chemotherapy ( = 0.037). The five-year RFS (recurrence-free survival) rate was better in the young adults than in the older patients ( = 0.009). In the multivariable analysis, young age was a significant prognostic factor for better RFS ( = 0.015).
Conclusions: Young patients with CRC had more symptoms, aggressive histological features than older patients. They received more multidrug agents and discontinued chemotherapy less often, resulting in better prognosis.

Background: De-intensification of anti-cancer therapy without significantly affecting outcomes is an important goal. Omission of axillary surgery or breast radiation is considered a reasonable option in elderly patients with early-stage breast cancer and good prognostic factors. Data on avoidance of both axillary surgery and radiation therapy (RT) is scarce and inconclusive.

Background: Maintenance of oral health, prevention, and health promotion stand as primary competencies for dental graduates. Consequently, it is necessary to promote such an approach in dental schools, which are traditionally focused on treatment, to improve the attitude and practice of students in the field of prevention, the final result of which is the reduction of oral and dental diseases in patients. The study aimed to design Integrated Oral Health Care Pathways (IOHCPs) for adults and children referred to Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), School of Dentistry.

Background: The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy outcomes of the traditional Judkins left and right catheters with those of the recently introduced Tiger catheter in female participants aged 65 years and older who underwent transradial coronary angiography.
Methods: A cohort of 160 female patients aged 65 and older who were scheduled for coronary angiography (CAG) were divided into two groups according to the use of Tiger (n = 80) or Judkins (n = 80) catheters for radial angiography at a ratio of 1:1, respectively. We analyzed the effectiveness of the Tiger and Judkins catheters, the incidence of catheter failure, contrast volume, CAG time, fluoroscopy time, dose-area product (in mGy/cm), and the occurrence of radial spasm.

Background: Optimised use of kidney function information might improve cardiac risk prediction in noncardiac surgery.
Methods: In 35,815 patients from the VISION cohort study and 9219 patients from the POISE-2 trial who were ≥45 yr old and underwent nonurgent inpatient noncardiac surgery, we examined (by age and sex) the association between continuous nonlinear preoperative estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and the composite of myocardial injury after noncardiac surgery, nonfatal cardiac arrest, or death owing to a cardiac cause within 30 days after surgery. We estimated contributions of predictive information, C-statistic, and net benefit from eGFR and other common patient and surgical characteristics to large multivariable models.
