The complete genome sequences of Rouxiella badensis DSM 100043 and Rouxiella chamberiensis DSM 28324 were determined using Oxford Nanopore long-read sequencing and the Flye assembler. The former contains a circular chromosome of 4,964,479 bp and a circular plasmid of 116,582 bp; the latter contains a circular chromosome of 4,639,296 bp.

Three novel strains within the genus (29887, 29892 and 29896) were isolated from healthy pigs during routine veterinary physical exams. All three strains were non-motile and non-spore-forming Gram-positive cocci. The complete genome of each strain was attained, and phylogenetic analyses were performed.

In July 2022, a genetically linked and geographically dispersed cluster of 12 cases of Shiga toxin-producing (STEC) O103:H2 was detected by the UK Health Security Agency using whole genome sequencing. Review of food history questionnaires identified cheese (particularly an unpasteurized brie-style cheese) and mixed salad leaves as potential vehicles. A case-control study was conducted to investigate exposure to these products.
