Acrosome breakdown in Leptodactylus chaquensis is described: during this process acrosome enlarges, becomes round-shaped and finally disrupts. Low tonicity media (0.025 M sucrose and 1/10 Holtfreter's solutions) favor acrosome breakdown and sperm fertility loosing. High tonicity media (0.250 M sucrose and Holtfreter's solutions) maintain acrosomes in an unreacted stage and sperm fertilizing capacity is preserved. Sperm motility does not seem to be a sufficient condition for the sperm to fertilize and also does not seem to be related with acrosome breakdown. The presence of lectins in the incubation media does not modify the time-course of acrosome breakdown.

Background: Sperm represent a heterogeneous population crucial for male reproductive success. Additionally, sperm undergo dynamic changes during maturation and capacitation. Despite these well-established processes, the complex nature of sperm heterogeneity and membrane dynamics remains elusive.

N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification is a key methylation modification involved in reproductive processes. gene editing (MT) in cattle is known to enhance muscle mass and productivity. However, the changes in m6A modification in MT bull sperm remain poorly understood.

Sperm motility is a key factor influencing male fertility and is associated with metabolic and lipid profiles across species. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between sperm motility and the seminal plasma lipid profile in Simmental bulls, and to identify key lipids potentially influencing sperm motility. Semen samples were collected from 26 healthy Simmental bulls with an average age of 4.

The present study describes the differentiation process of male germ cells in Octopus vulgaris, the morphology of sperm in the testis and spermatophore, and the sperm released after the spermatophoric reaction. During spermatogenesis, the male sperm cell gradually elongates from a round shape, with cytoplasm shifting toward the head and the acrosome forming. Additionally, in the spermatid stage, the flagellum develops within the posterior nuclear channel and extends outside the cytoplasm.

Background: In the cryopreservation process, rooster spermatozoa are vastly sensitive to reactive oxygen species (ROS). This study aimed to investigate the effects of Lake extender supplemented via Cysteamine (CYS) on the quality and fertility characteristics of rooster semen during the cryopreservation process.
Methods: Semen samples were collected from 10 proved Ross-308 roosters, diluted and cryopreserved in the Lake extender which contained 0, 1, 2, 4, and 8 mM of CYS (C-0, C-1, C-2, C-4, and C-8, respectively).
