Presumptive stomach cells of the starfish embryo are shown to sort out and to occupy a position in the endoderm of the reconstructed embryo. A new method is introduced to specifically mark these cells by staining the embryo with a fluorescent dye, 8-anilino-1-naphthalenesulfonic acid (1,8-ANS).

When treating patients with a massive cavernous hemangioma of the liver that requires nonsurgical therapy, transcatheter arterial embolization has proven to be an effective technique. Significant advantages include the ability to obliterate the vascular supply of these lesions and the minimally invasive nature compared to surgery. A 65-year-old woman arrived at our hospital complaining primarily of stomach pain that had been there for six months.

Gastric heterotopia is characterized by the presence of mature gastric tissue outside the stomach, yet its occurrence in the palate has not been previously documented. We describe a case of gastric heterotopia in the hard palate of an elderly female patient, presenting as a swollen mass with associated secretion. Given the patient's age and clinical symptoms, a presumptive diagnosis of a malignant tumor originating from the minor salivary glands was made.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance of tele-robotic distal gastrectomy (tele-RDG) with lymph node dissection (LND) using a novel Japanese-made surgical robot hinotori™ (Medicaroid, Kobe, Japan) in a cadaver with a presumptive gastric cancer. The Cadaveric Anatomy and Surgical Training Laboratory (CAST-Lab.) at Hokkaido University and Kushiro City General Hospital (KCGH) are connected by a guaranteed type line (1 Gbps), and the distance between the two facilities is 250 km.

Although artificial intelligence has brought a great promise to assist pathologist to screen digitalized endoscopic biopsies, existing artificial intelligence systems are limited to be utilized in planning gastric cancer treatment. We propose a practical artificial intelligence-based decision support system that enables five subclassifications of gastric cancer pathology, which can be directly matched to general gastric cancer treatment guidance.
