Compound 1 is formed by a microwave-assisted multicomponent reaction of 1-methylpiperidin-4-one, 2-amino-4-methoxy-6-methyl-1,3,5-triazine, and thiosemicarbazide, followed by the synthesis of Schiff base 2a-l with a variety of aldehydes. A comparison was made between the conventional and microwave methods, and the microwave approach was shown to be considerably superior to the classical method since it takes less time and produces higher yields. Several spectral investigations, including H NMR, C NMR, Mass, and IR spectroscopy, are used to characterize the complete series. In vitro antibacterial testing suggests that compounds 2c, 2f, and 2g are promising antibacterial agents, although compounds 2d, 2e, and 2l are effective antimycobacterial agents when compared to the conventional medicine Rifampicin. The docking score from docking studies is considerable, which validates the results of the biological examination. Molecular docking was performed on Escherichia coli DNA gyrase. According to the in silico ADME analysis, each drug molecule is ideal for use in terms of drug solubility, hydrogen bonding, and cell permeability.

This study elucidated the mechanisms involved in the impact of Tsamba (a highland barley product) starch digestibility by different thermal treatments. The results demonstrate that different thermal processing methods (microwave, roasting, sand frying, frying, baking, and steaming) significantly alter the polyphenol content of highland barley, which in turn affects its ability to inhibit α-amylase activity. SEM, CLSM, XRD and FTIR were used to evaluate the effects on starch microstructure and digestibility.

The development of a sensitive and selective silver nanoparticle assay for the quantitation of vitamin C (SNaP-C), as ascorbic acid (AA) and total ascorbic acid (TAA = AA + dehydroascorbic acid, DHAA), is described. Three assay parameters were investigated and optimized: (1) synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) to produce a reliable enhanced localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) in the presence of specific added antioxidants; (2) ensuring long-term stability of AA and DHAA in aqueous solutions; and (3) SNaP-C assay conditions to allow for rapid analysis of samples (beverages) by monitoring the enhanced LSPR. The synthesis of AgNPs using soluble starch as a capping agent and d-arabinose as a reducing agent was optimized in a CEM Discover SP laboratory microwave.

Synthetic antidiabetic drugs are often associated with various adverse side effects, including hypoglycemia, nausea, gastrointestinal disturbances, headaches, and even liver damage. In contrast, plant-derived natural antidiabetic bioactive compounds typically exhibit lower toxicity and fewer side effects and have been reported to aid effectively in diabetes management. These plant extracts regulate diabetes by restoring pancreatic function, enhancing insulin secretion, inhibiting intestinal glucose absorption, and facilitating insulin dependent metabolism.
