Aqueous zinc-based batteries (AZBs) are gaining widespread attention owing to their intrinsic safety, relatively low electrode potential, and high theoretical capacity. Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have convenient 2D ion diffusion channels, so they have been identified as promising host materials for AZBs, but face several key challenges such as the narrow interlayer spacing and the lack of in-deep understanding energy storage mechanisms. This review presents a comprehensive summary and discussion of the intrinsic structure, charge storage mechanisms, and key fabrication strategies of TMD-based cathodes for AZBs.

Abnormal pre-mRNA splicing is a fundamental mechanism in neurodegenerative diseases. Chondroitin sulfate (CS), a class of glycosaminoglycans covalently attached to proteins to form proteoglycans, is widely distributed in the extracellular matrix and cell surface of animal tissues. In our previous study, CS was used as a template for the synthesis of seleno-chondroitin sulfate (SeCS) through the redox reaction of ascorbic acid (Vc) and sodium selenite (NaSeO) and we found that SeCS could inhibit tumor cell proliferation and invasion. However, its effect on angiogenesis and its underlying mechanism are unknown.

The deep-sea ecosystem, a less-contaminated reservoir of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs), has evolved antibiotic resistance for microbes to survive and utilize scarce resources. Research on the diversity and distribution of these genes in deep-sea environments is limited. Our metagenomics study employed short-read-based (SRB) and assembled-contig-based (ACB) methods to identify ARGs in deep-sea waters and sediments and assess their potential pathogenicity.
