High-Performance and Stable SbS Thin-Film Photodetectors for Potential Application in Visible Light Communication.

Photodetectors (PDs) are critical parts of visible light communication (VLC) systems for achieving efficient photoelectronic conversion and high-fidelity transmission of signals. Antimony sulfide (SbS) as a nontoxic, high optical absorption coefficient, and low-cost semiconductor becomes a promising candidate for applications in VLC systems. Particularly, SbS PDs were verified to have significantly weak light detection ability in the visible region. However, the response speed of SbS PDs with existing device structures is still relatively slow. Herein, through optimizing the device structure for the p-i-n type PDs, a p-type SbSe hole transport layer (HTL) is designed to enhance the built-in electric field and to accelerate the migration of photogenerated carriers for the high responsivity and fast response speed. The optimal thickness of the structure is obtained through the simulation of SCAPS-1D software, and the optimized devices show high-performance parameters, including a responsivity of 0.34 A W, a specific detectivity () of 2.20 × 10 Jones, the -3 dB bandwidth of 440 kHz, high stability, and the value of the SbS PDs can reach 60% in the range of 360-600 nm, which indicates that the device is very suitable for working in the visible light band. In addition, the resulting SbS PD is successfully integrated into VLC systems by designing a matched light detection circuit. The results suggest that the SbS PDs are expected to provide an alternative to future VLC system applications.

To uncover underlying mechanisms associated with failure of indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1 (IDO1) blockade in clinical trials, we conducted a pilot, window-of-opportunity clinical study in 17 patients with newly diagnosed advanced high-grade serous ovarian cancer before their standard tumor debulking surgery. Patients were treated with the IDO1 inhibitor epacadostat, and immunologic, transcriptomic, and metabolomic characterization of the tumor microenvironment was undertaken in baseline and posttreatment tumor biopsies. IDO1 inhibition resulted in efficient blockade of the kynurenine pathway of tryptophan degradation and was accompanied by a metabolic adaptation that shunted tryptophan catabolism toward the serotonin pathway.

Objective: The aim of the study is to describe the status of perinatal mortality (PM) in an Indian rural hospital.

Study Design: Retrospective analysis of data was compiled from PM meetings (April 2017 to December 2018) following "Making Every Baby Count: audit and review of stillbirths and neonatal deaths (ENAP or Every Newborn Action Plan)."

Results: The study includes 8,801 livebirths, 105 stillbirths (SBs); 74 antepartum stillbirths [ASBs], 22 intrapartum stillbirths [ISBs], and nine unknown timing stillbirths [USBs]), 39 neonatal deaths or NDs (perinatal death or PDs 144).

Background: Recently, two-dimensional techniques have been successfully employed for compressing surface electromyographic (SEMG) records as images, through the use of image and video encoders. Such schemes usually provide specific compressors, which are tuned for SEMG data, or employ preprocessing techniques, before the two-dimensional encoding procedure, in order to provide a suitable data organization, whose correlations can be better exploited by off-the-shelf encoders. Besides preprocessing input matrices, one may also depart from those approaches and employ an adaptive framework, which is able to directly tackle SEMG signals reassembled as images.
