Unlabelled: Hydatid cyst is a parasitic infection of humans caused by the larval stage of Echinococcus. Hydatid cyst of the head and neck region is not very common and the involvement of salivary glands, especially the submandibular gland is very rare. Here present a case of hydatid cyst of the right submandibular region. A 13year-old female presented with a slowly growing swelling of the right submandibular region for 2 months. Fine needle aspiration cytology yielded fluid aspirate and the smear showed occasionally lymphocytes and diagnosis is unconclusive. The cyst was excised as a whole and it was sent for histopathological examination. Pathological examination confirmed the swelling to be a hydatid cyst of the right submandibular region.
