The presence of the target causes the structural switch of a metastable hairpin template probe (MH) for triggering a self-primed artificial biochemical circuit to produce numerous DNAzyme replicates, which in turn results in substantial signal amplification for highly sensitive colorimetric determination of nucleic acids.

Translational research serves as the bridge between basic research and practical applications in clinical settings. The journey from "bench to bedside" is fraught with challenges and complexities such as the often-observed disparity between how compounds behave in a laboratory setting versus in the complex systems of living organisms. The challenge is further compounded by the limited ability of in vitro models to mimic the specific biochemical environment of human tissues.

Studies on the mechanisms and regulation of functional assemblies of SNARE proteins mediating membrane fusion essentially make use of recombinant proteins and artificial phospholipid bilayers. We have developed an easy-to-use in vivo system reconstituting membrane fusion in living bacteria. It relies on the formation of caveolin-dependent intracytoplasmic cisternae followed by the controlled synthesis of members of the synaptic SNARE machinery.

Background: Acute liver failure (ALF) poses a significant threat to patient health with high mortality rates. While Non-Bioartificial Artificial Liver Support system (NBALSS) has been utilized as a transitional intervention to liver transplant, its efficacy remains uncertain, It is also used as a last-line treatment for patients who are not candidates for liver transplantation.
Objective: The aim of this study was to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to evaluate the efficacy of NBALSS in treating acute liver failure (ALF).

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) models trained on natural protein sequences have been used to design functional enzymes. However, their ability to predict individual reaction steps in enzyme catalysis remains unclear, limiting the potential use of sequence information for enzyme engineering. In this study, we demonstrated that sequence information can predict the rate of the S2 step of a haloalkane dehalogenase using a generative maximum-entropy (MaxEnt) model.

Ischemia and pathological angiogenesis in retinal vascular diseases cause serious vision-related problems. However, the transcriptional regulators of vascular repair remain unidentified. Thus, the factors and mechanisms involved in angiogenesis must be elucidated to develop approaches for restoring normal blood vessels.
