A pseudo-outbreak of bronchoscopy-associated and was traced to contaminated ice machine water and ice. A nonsterile ice bath was used to cool uncapped, sterile, saline syringes used to slow procedural bleeding. Joining the growing evidence of bronchoscopy pseudo-outbreaks, our investigation describes several lessons for future prevention.

Mercury (Hg) contamination poses a persistent threat to the remote Arctic ecosystem, yet the mechanisms driving the pronounced summer rebound of atmospheric gaseous elemental Hg (Hg) and its subsequent fate remain unclear due to limitations in large-scale seasonal studies. Here, we use an integrated atmosphere-land-sea-ice-ocean model to simulate Hg cycling in the Arctic comprehensively. Our results indicate that oceanic evasion is the dominant source (~80%) of the summer Hg rebound, particularly driven by seawater Hg release facilitated by seasonal ice melt (~42%), with further contributions from anthropogenic deposition and terrestrial re-emissions.

High-energy electron beam exposure is generally recognized as the standard for achieving high-precision nanofabrication. Low-energy electron beam exposure techniques offer advantages in 3D manufacturing; however, they have received limited attention in traditional processes due to precision limitations and insufficient exposure, leading to an underestimation of their potential. In this article, we introduce a nanofabrication strategy using low-energy electrons in ice-assisted electron-beam lithography (iEBL) alleviating the compatibility issue between resolution and quasi-3D manufacturing.
