The fast OH transfer between hydroxide layers is the key to enhancing the charge storage efficiency of layered double hydroxides (LDH)-based supercapacitors (SCs). Constructing interlayer reactive sites in LDH is much expected but still a huge challenge. In this work, CdS nano-dots (NDs) are introduced to interlayers of ultra-thin NiFe-LDH (denoted CdS -NiFe-LDH), promoting the interlayer ions flow for higher redox activity. The excellent performance is not only due to the enlarged layer spacing (from 0.70 to 0.81 nm) but also stems from anchored interlayer reactive units and the undamaged original layered structure of LDH, which contribute to the improvement of OH diffusion coefficient (1.6 × 10 cm s ) and electrochemical active area (601 mF cm ) better than that of CdS NDs on the surface of NiFe-LDH (2.1 × 10 cm s and 350 mF cm ). The champion CdS -NiFe-LDH electrode displays high capacitance of 3330.0 F g at 1 A g and excellent retention capacitance of 90.9% at 10 A g , which is better than the NiFe-LDH with CdS NDs on the surface (1966.6 F g ). Moreover, the assembled asymmetric SCs (ASC) device demonstrate an outstanding energy density/power density (121.56 Wh kg /754.5 W kg ).

ConspectusThe electronic properties of atomically thin van der Waals (vdW) materials can be precisely manipulated by vertically stacking them with a controlled offset (for example, a rotational offset─i.e., twist─between the layers, or a small difference in lattice constant) to generate moiré superlattices.

Intrinsic low conductivity, poor structural stability, and narrow interlayer spacing limit the development of MnO in sodium-ion (Na) supercapacitors. This work constructs the hollow cubic Mn-PBA precursor through an ion-exchange process to in situ obtain a hollow cubic H-Ni-MnO composite with Ni doping and oxygen vacancies (O) via a self-oxidation strategy. Experiments and theoretical calculations show that the hollow nanostructure and the expanding interlayer spacing induced by Ni doping are beneficial for exposing more reactive sites, synergistically manipulating the Na transport pathways.

The technology to solve the problem of the efficient pollutant removal in peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation was the ultimate goal. There was an urgent need to achieving higher catalytic activity and oxidation efficiency. Herein, we present a MgAl-based layered double hydroxide assembled as a 2D confined catalyst (MgAl-Co-LDH) with Co metal in chelated form (Co-EDTA) for highly efficient PMS activation degrading sulfamethoxazole (SMX).

The earliest named stromatolite Cryptozoon Hall, 1884 (Late Cambrian, ca. 490 Ma, eastern New York State), was recently re-interpreted as an interlayered microbial mat and non-spiculate (keratosan) sponge deposit. This "classic stromatolite" is prominent in a fundamental debate concerning the significance or even existence of non-spiculate sponges in carbonate rocks from the Neoproterozoic (Tonian) onwards.

Surface oxidation/reduction processes, driven by varying electrochemical potentials, can substantially impact catalyst effectiveness and, consequently, electrolyzer performance. This study combines theoretical and experimental approaches to explore the surface redox behavior of nickel oxides, which are cost-effective and efficient catalysts for many electrochemical reactions. Surface Pourbaix diagrams for three different phases of nickel oxides, i.
