Background: Food and Drug Administration-mandated postmarket studies for transcatheter aortic valve replacement in low-risk populations plan to use passively collected registry data linked to claims for long-term follow-up out to 10 years. Therefore, it is critically important to understand the validity of these claims-based end points. We sought to evaluate the ability of administrative claims with () codes to identify trial-adjudicated end points and reproduce treatment comparisons of aortic valve replacement in the Evolut Low Risk Trial.

Obesity management through laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy can occasionally lead to rare but severe complications, including Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). This report analyzes two cases of GBS following LSG, highlighting differences in symptoms, diagnosis, and management. The first patient experienced rapid onset neurological symptoms post-surgery, confirmed as GBS through clinical and electrophysiological assessments, and responded well to intravenous immunoglobulin.

Pro-B- and pre-B-cells are consecutive entities in early B-cell development, representing cells of origin for B-cell precursor acute lymphoid leukemia (BCP-ALL). Normal B-cell differentiation is critically regulated by specific transcription factors (TFs). Accordingly, TF-encoding genes are frequently deregulated or mutated in BCP-ALL.

PIWI-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) have received a lot of attention for their functions in cancer research. This class of short non-coding RNAs (ncRNA) has roles in genomic stability, chromatin remodeling, messenger RNA (mRNA) integrity, and genome structure. We summarized the mechanisms underlying the biogenesis and regulatory molecular functions of piRNAs.
