Objective: Rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) of respiratory cytology specimens is a critical technique for accurate and timely diagnosis of lung cancer. However, in China, limited familiarity with the Diff-Quik staining method and a shortage of trained cytopathologists hamper utilization of ROSE. Therefore, developing an improved deep learning model to assist clinicians in promptly and accurately evaluating Diff-Quik stained cytology samples during ROSE has important clinical value.

While the latest WHO classification of hematological neoplasms helps refine the diagnostic criteria for anaplastic large cell lymphomas (ALCL), their diagnosis can still be challenging. This retrospective series of 10 ALCL cases illustrates the cytological appearance and immunological profile obtained through flow cytometry (FCM) from various sample types, including lymph node biopsies (LN), peripheral blood (PB), cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and pleural fluid (PF). ALCL exhibits a polymorphic cytological appearance, ranging from "doughnut" cells to Hodgkin-like cells, very large cells, and small cells, with this polymorphism being particularly pronounced in ALK (-) forms.

Allergies represent a significant and growing public health concern, affecting millions worldwide and burdening healthcare systems substantially. Accurate diagnosis and understanding of allergy is crucial for effective management and treatment. This review aims to explore the historical evolution, current advances, and prospects of histopathological and cytological techniques in allergy diagnosis, highlighting their crucial role in modern medicine.

The cytological examination of urine samples can be done using the manual (microscopic) or automated technique. The automated approach, which involves the use of artificial intelligence, is faster, more reliable, and more efficient for laboratories.

Background: Endobronchial ultrasound guided Transbronchial Needle Aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is the predominant method for investigation of centrally located solitary pulmonary nodules. The method is associated with good to excellent diagnostic sensitivity and specificity with the positive predictive value of the test reaching 100% and reported negative predictive values for FNA of pulmonary nodules ranging from 53% to 97%. The impact of correlating cytologic results with imaging and clinical findings for improvement of negative predictive value has been poorly studied.
