cysticercosis is a rare but recently more frequently reported disease that can affect both human and non-human primates as aberrant hosts. A common marmoset was noticed as being affected by advancing weight loss that did not respond to therapy and finally had to be euthanized due to poor prognosis. A complete necropsy with gross evaluation and subsequent histological and molecular analyses was performed, revealing the presence of a cysticercosis in the thoracic and pelvic cavity and in the mesentery.

The safety of titanium dioxide (TiO), widely used in foods and personal care products, has been of ongoing concern. Significant toxicity of TiO has been reported, suggesting a risk to human health. To evaluate its potential epigenotoxicity, the effect of exposure to a TiO product to which humans could be exposed on DNA methylation, a primary epigenetic mechanism, was investigated using two human cell lines (Caco-2 (colorectal) and HepG2 (liver)) relevant to human exposure.

STIL is a regulatory protein essential for centriole biogenesis, and its dysregulation has been implicated in various diseases, including malignancies. However, its role in non-small-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) remains unclear. In this study, we examined STIL expression and its potential association with chromosomal numerical abnormalities (CNAs) in NSCLC using The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) dataset, immunohistochemical analysis, and in vitro experiments with NSCLC cell lines designed to overexpress STIL.

Kell is one of the most complex blood group systems, with a highly polymorphic genetic background. Extensive allelic variations in the gene affect the encoded erythrocyte surface protein Kell. Genetic variants causing aberrant splicing, premature termination of protein translation, or specific amino acid exchanges lead to a variety of different phenotypes with altered Kell expression levels or changes in the antigenic properties of the Kell protein.

Purpose: This study aims to explore the neuroprotective effect of propofol in improving traumatic brain injury (TBI) by inhibiting ferroptosis through the modulation of the endothelial nitric oxide (NO) synthase (eNOS)/NO signaling pathway.

Methods: The GSE173975 dataset was used to analyze the differentially expressed genes between TBI and sham surgery control groups in the short and long term. A TBI model was established in 2-month-old male SPF C57BL/6 mice by impact exposure of the exposed dura mater.
