We report our experience with a case of a left atrial mass coexisting with a coronary artery-left atrial fistula. The abnormal vessels extended from the right coronary artery and left circumflex artery to the tumor in the left atrium and were aggregated within the tumor. An efflux of the contrast media was also noted from the tumor into the left atrium. Tumor resection and ligation of the abnormal vessels were performed as surgical interventions. The outcomes were favorable. The tumor was pathologically diagnosed as a myxoma, but its association with the abnormal vessels was unknown.

Current treatments for retinal disorders are anti-angiogenic agents, laser photocoagulation, and photodynamic therapies. These conventional treatments focus on reducing abnormal blood vessel formation in the retina, which, in a low-oxygen environment, can lead to harmful proliferation of endothelial cells. This results in dysfunctional, leaky blood vessels that cause retinal edema, hemorrhage, and vision loss.

Background: Brain accumulation of amyloid-ß (Aß) in plaques and neurons is the cause of AD neuropathology that is opposed by autologous monocyte/macrophages (MMs) in health but this defense fails in AD.
Method: RNAseq, immunochemistry of the brain, immunofluorescence, and confocal microscopy of macrophages.
Result: In the AD brain, MMs shuttle Aß from parenchyma to vessels, which develop vasculitis, causing amyloid-related imaging abnormalities (ARIAs).

Background: Anti-amyloid antibodies have been associated with amyloid-related-imaging-abnormalities (ARIA) in AD patients, causing vasogenic edema and microhemorrhages, especially in ApoE4 carriers. Background: In humans, larger artery stiffening is associated with increased tau phosphorylation and neurodegeneration. However, because arterial stiffness often co-occurs with other age-related conditions like hypertension, atherosclerosis, and diabetes, it is nearly impossible to distill the underlying mechanisms specifically linking arterial stiffening to abnormal brain function. We leveraged a surgical mouse model of larger artery stiffening and used it concurrently with a transgenic Alzheimer's disease (AD) mouse model of tau pathology to investigate the impact of larger artery stiffening on cognition.
